I used to be a huge fan of FireLine, but after fishing with PowerPro 10 years ago, I've never looked back. MossGreen is my preference on color.

I LOVE Fireline on my baitcasters!  It's cuts thru the water smooth as silk when trolling but floats cleanly when bobber fishing.
I switched out to powerpro a couple of years ago and lost every salmon I hooked for months due to breakage before switching back.  Haven't lost one since.

Perhaps you got a counterfeit spool.

Just be careful.  Braid and rocks do not mix well.  If your going to be bouncing the bottom, make sure to drop down to some mono.

I don't know have many breaks I had this year because I was dragging over rocks (bass fishing).  I lost gear and fish. :(

I use 50# Yellow PowerPro on most of my gear, though I am still running some moss green.  I buy it in 1200 yard spools, and fill a friend's reels too.  I like the yellow better as it is easier to see the angle the line is making with the water.

Leaders are generally 20# Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon line.

Next time I might go generic as suggested by Craig.

I use power pro. Unless you really need the line capacity or the thinness for deep trolling, I suggest using something in the 50 to 65 pound range for salmon.  It's just a LOT easier to handle in a cold wet environment and tangles are easier to deal with.   I typically drop down to a section of 30lbs to 50lbs flourocarbon with one section of lighter line so I can break it off in case of a snag.  To me the main quality of braid is the no stretch.  To others the thinness is good.  I have had problems with braid 20lbs or less breaking when sudden force is applied like setting the hook or jerking on a snagged lure.  Breaks much easier than the stretchy mono of similar rating.  So make sure you compensate with appropriate soft rod and/or drag setting and you will be fine.

Has anyone given berkleys recently developed nano-fil a try?

I have it on a reel and no matter what swivels, leaders, or different baits I try, the line gets so twisted after about 5 casts, it is unusable.

Any thoughts or ideas about this?

Same results here.   It was the first and last time I tried using a super braid on a spinning reel.  If making high arching casts where the lure hit the water with a rainbow of line following in the air, it often resulted in wind knots.   Some almost impossible to untie
Maybe I need to work on my rainbow casting technique :toothy9:
Happens each time a line comes out stating it is unlike any other and revolutionary.  At first I think "Sure, heard that a hundred times already"  then I think "If someone does come out with a revolutionary line unlike any other .... what are the chances they wouldn't state as much"  so I try it.    :-\

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't
