FWIW, the XNT-9-20-T can be mounted inside the kayak and it will still report temperature fairly accurately.

I think the through-the-scupper transducer is the XNT-9-20-P and it does have a temperature probe and fits through the scupper.   What does the puck molding on the bottom of the hull look like?  is it shaped like this?

I mounted an XNT-9-20-P in my OK T13 scupper, and an XNT-9-20-T inside my Revo shooting through the plastic.  The internal transducer reports water temp pretty well once in the water a while.

I'd somewhat disagree on the temp ability on shoot through hull mounting... during the summer months I used to get readings well above ambient air or water temperature.  The trapped volume of air inside the hull can get quite warm in direct sunlight, even in a bright colored kayak.  During the dreary months mine usually read +/- 5* of actual.

Ahhh ... you're probably right on that.  I spend most of my time on the salt ... cold water and cold air.
