It's not doo-doo.  It's hemolymph, a copper-based blood.  Same stuff you get when you suck the heads of a mudbug.

Don't forget the hepatopancreas, the yellow goo, where toxins (algal and man made) can accumulate as Ling Banger said.

This reminds me of the STD pictures they used to show us in high school health class to prompt safe sex.
