Hey fellas,
I have a 4x8 snowbear trailer that I am looking to mod.  First thing I want to do is extend the tongue of the trailer.  Question is where can I find material that would work without having to cannibalize a used trailer?

I was also looking at these guys http://www.utilitysport.com/ALF4842.asp, but there isn't a contact number and they don't seem to be responding to any emails.  I assume they are still in business?

Send Wobbler a PM. I think this is his favorite platform to build his trailers on. He's done a number of them and they are top notch! Also, your link doesn't work.

Try this link:

They look cool, kinda similar to the HF 40x48 trailer.

Any idea how much these cost?

No clue. The website isn't very informative.

I think the trailers are very reasonably priced , $1200- $1300.  I've seen them offered on a couple other websites but not with the extended tongue option.

In regards to my snowbear trailer I was thinking of modding that or purchasing a harbor freight 4x6 trailer but the tongue length is extremely short.  There are quite a few threads with some sweet trailer builds here where people have lengthened the tongue but I am at a loss where the material for that is found  ???

I take it that you have already extended the tongue as far as it will go. You can buy the 3" x 1 1/2 tube steel at any yard. Use the old piece as a template for the holes and cut to length.

The best thing about the SnowBear trailer is that it can be configured in so many ways. Give me a PM and we can talk trailers.

I was looking for tube steel a while back for a brush guard and found a place up in NOPO that sells it. The name of the place is The Steel Yard. They will make custom cuts for you as well. thesteelyard.com

Picked up a SnowBear this week, has more rust than I thought (best to buy during daylight). Open to suggestions on prep, priming & painting. Guy at Home Depot wasn't big on Rustoleum, suggested I try Millers or Sherwin Williams.

That looks like mostly surface rust? Or is it deeper? If not too deep I'd say sand, primer and then paint.

Wire wheel, rustoleum  rusty metal primer then rustoleum pro grade paint. You could consider spaying high wear areas and the  inside with bed liner to keep things from sliding around.

Wire wheel to knock of the loose paint, then hit it with medium grit emory cloth. I've had pretty good luck with Zero Rust primer on my truck, it's spendy, but seems to hold up to the elements well. Order online or buy it at Newberg Steel.

Island Hoppa--Are you setting up the trailer for your tandem Island? Keep us posted with pics. I am in the market for doing the same for my AI up here.
