I'm planning on taking the new yak out this weekend (Sat, 9 Mar) for some flounder off Nisqually Reach. I'll likely get started late morning.  If you're interested, let me know.

I might make it out there - wind and currents look good Saturday.  Where will you launch from?  The boat launch next to the nature center?

I promised thing two that I would take her to build a snow cave and go snow shoeing this weekend, otherwise I'd join you.

Let us know how you do.. I'm convinced its gonna be slow until the herring schools make a strong show in the south sound and the water warms up a little bit... Last time I went out there was the Super Bowl and I caught one white sculpin and battled for an hour against the wind to get back to the launch from the edge of the drop off, hopefully you can pull a few nice flounder out of there

I took the yak out there on Tuesday and the current definitely seemed stronger than the last time I was there...we'll see how it goes.

DoubleR, yep I plan on launching from the Nature Center around 1000ish.

You should check this site out for predictions on current speeds:

http://www.deepzoom.com/#/Views/Boat.xaml

10am saturday will have very little current, then start coming in and not exceeding .8 mph.  The outgoing will get up to 1.7 or so, which will be a lot faster on medicine creek (luhr boat ramp)

Pretty slow day out on the flats.  I pulled in 3-4 but they were pretty small.  The serious fog finally broke around 1230 and it was bright and warm out there.

It was nice to get the new yak out there and huge thanks to Lee and Ravdakot for answering my millions of questions.  FF is mounted and works like a champ!

It was a nice day out, nice new kayak nangusdog, I thought I recognized you out on American lake the other day... your new yak threw me off a bit.  did you see or mark any herring schools out there?

Looks like at least 3 starry flounders.  Let us know how you like them.

Great fish taco!  I was hoping to have a little more luck on Saturday... ahh well.  I might go back out for a few hours this coming weekend to try again.

Depending on the weather, there may be other plans in the works.  ;-)
