I assume whoever was out there around 5:30 pm today:

A. Didn't have any luck to report on
B. Had some luck but wants to keep quiet about it
C. Isn't on the forum
D. Needs more time to craft the epic story in a manner worthy of the experience.

I hope it's D!

I know who it was.  He caught more than four but less than nine salmon. ;)  He can fill in the details.

Let me just say I caught more salmon today then I ever have in a single day, with 8 salmon boated.  I probably had about a dozen or so take downs and twice had fish follow my bait all the way to the boat.  This was one of the few times I could actually see fish on the fish finder only to have a take down a few seconds later.  All the fish came on a cut plug green label herring trolled behind a konezone flasher at 9-13 pulls.
I have to say if anyone wants to get a salmon this week may be the week.  I would really recommend trout gear though because catching smolt on salmon gear is really not that fun.

Are you saying that you still haven't gotten a keeper?

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

I've seen on the other reports that the smolts are thick this year.  I guess that's a really good thing... until they constantly end up on your hooks.

Smolts are more pesky in low water years.  Add some flow and the smolt bite will all but disappear, at least until we lose current again in late spring when the Columbia backs the Willamette up.

With less then 10 fish over the falls this year I consider these practice trips.  When the fish finally arrive I will have my rigs and a few of my favorite locations dialed in.

This has to be one of the true LOL posts I've read in a while. It made me infinitely jealous and then slapped me in the face with reality. Thanks Nate, that was awesome
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

Does the "pictures or it didn't happen" rule count with smolt?

Yes!

Look out Nate, some of us have decided that this is the year you spend a ton of effort but get very few salmon.  We'll have a cold beer and some reassuring words for you when you finally hit the wall.   >:D  Love ya man!

There is no need to get jealous Spot.  I will happily give you or anyone that asks some springer tips at your clinic.   ;D

I was jealous last year.  Spent too much time exploring new (to me) areas while you were racking and stacking.  This year I'll get even.   ;D
So, does that mean you'll actually stick around and help out the newbs this year if you get a fish?!?!?
KASTANG!    Oh yeah.. I said it..

But really, you gonna come help out this weekend?
