Well, got the pots today.  Wind died towards the end but was still sailing along at 4.5 kts. One pot had an octopus who consumed the catch, other pot had about 20. Gonna get some smaller pots, too much drag on the full size ones, then blackstone bay here I come!!

Hopefully you kept that sucker! They aren't as good as shrimp IMO but if they eat my shrimp I'm eating them!

Naw, I didn't wanna mess with him cause I don't know what I'm doing with them anyway. If I knew what I was doing with it I'd prolly have given it a go. Wasn't too big.

Planning a 4 day PWS trip if you're interested Matt, shrimping and maybe a trip over to a spot where we pulled in a 60 lb halibut and some yellow eye.

Lemme know if you're down, heck, anyone else is welcome too, but there will be some mileage involved.  Course could just hit the halibut, looks like there outta be a beach to camp on not too far from my spot, tho my initial plan is to base out of decision point marine park.  8 nm from Whittier.

Just plotted it and my halibut spot is another 8-9 nm out. Wouldn't be bad of there was a breeze.  Kinda lame if it's whipping tho

What reel did you end up using? I can attest it is a lot of work to crank up pots from 300 on a rod and reel.
How did you support the rod?
