Ok, so I was bobbing around today and thought of some things we might want to address for our makeshift tourney.

Radio channel-  what do we use?  I'd prefer not to fill channel 16 with smack talk and friendly chatter.  With ~8-10 of us it would be wise to use 68 or 69.

Bring fire wood.  Most of the drift wood is gone after the beach combers and bird weirdos were at the beach this weekend.

Anyone interested in a potluck on Saturday?

I'm gonna go down Thursday night and set up my tent to try and acquire the good camping area.  If anyone is planning on heading down that way earlier than Friday, let me know so we can team up and bogart the dry flat spot.

And most importantly....what type of cake shall I bring?

I was thinking about radio channels too. We should stick to one of the working channels I think, 68 or 69.  If your radio is capable of it, scan 16.

I won't be down til Friday early evening, late afternoon.

Kard....question for you regarding the rules.

How will the overall winner be decided?  Most total points for all fish caught or most total points for 1 king and 1 halibut?

Given the various times. I'm thinking one largest halibut. One king. Combined AOTY points. 4.25 pts per inch for halibut, 5pts per inch for kings.

This way it doesn't give too much advantage to those starting out first thing in the morning Saturday.

Hey guys! Count me in! Are we required to check in once we arrive? May be super early Saturday morning for me. Huge shout out to Rudy for puttin' this on! I'm going to try and get a donation from Sweeney's Clothing.

I'll show up sometime Saturday -- must get visitors on their plane first -- so feel free to text me with supply needs that might become apparent once you all start gathering. Our basement is a veritable sporting goods store, so it's no big deal to throw another item in.

Andy -- I vote chocolate.

I'll bring some goodies for a potluck feast on Saturday night. It would probably help if most folks threw in a couple of sticks of firewood too -- at least enough to dry out the stuff that we can collect there.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

So me and a few friends are going down friday night and plan on fishing saturday and sunday for kings. Im curious though is king fishing only from the mouth of the river to the adf&g sign? Or can you fishing outside of the mouth in the inlet? And im asuming that may 18th means 12 am may 18th? Id like to join in the potluck and meet everyone aswell but i dont know how to get to the camp ground! Can someone fill me in thanks. Pretty excited

Read the regs carefully. One of the reasons we picked Whiskey Gulch is it open fishing at launch.  You can't fish within a mile or two of the river mouths depending on major streams. Even at whiskey gulch, if you catch a king within a mile of shore, you cannot fish for ANYTHING unless you go out a mile.

For location, go to www.alaskakayakfisher.com click on location. Look at the map and its the third location from the bottom. It's about 5 miles north of Anchor Point.  It's marked on a small sign that says beach access or something line that.

So far, weather is marginal. Having said that it was almost dead calm last weekend when they called for bigger stuff. We will keep an eye out. Safety first!!!

Hey Rudy! Thanks, I'm stoked! Those 'buts on FB were 15 or so lbs. The largest of the four caught late Sunday was probably a bit over 20 lbs. They were very active! I was able to score a sweet Carhartt backpack filled with Carhartt swag, a Grunden's Gage "Eat Fish" t-shirt and a handful of Mepps spinners to throw in the pot for this weekend! Looking forward to getting back out on the water!
