Does anyone want to split a camping spot with me? Don't really want to shell out for a whole spot all to my self in my tent.

We're all splitting the big group campsite.  They'll charge by the tent I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong).  No, I won't share a tent with you.   ::)

Oh.. I was under the impression we had to make a reservation.. I am planning on getting there thursday evening.

You can if you want to stay in a regular spot, as in you want hookups or something like that.  I'd also just call in as a courtesy just so they know what to expect.  If you want to stay in the group area, just tell them you'd like to stay with the big kayak fishing group.  While you're at it, can you confirm if the price is per person, or per tent, and let us all know.   ;)

What's the bathroom/shower situation at Chinook Bend? I'm all about lathering up in the river, but I need to know if there's a shower so I can decide  if I should bring my aromatherapy candles and special edition American Idol shower radio.

I believe there are showers at the camp site.

Yes there is.  Bring quarters.  Aromatherapy candles are extra.

Chinook Bend is only charging $16 a night for tent camping.....

Are you sure on the price? I think they charged me ~$22 for a single tent spot (even with the Kayak group rate).

  Hi Skidplate,
I paid my camping fee of $16 per night for 3 nights on May 16th. If it has changed since then ---I don't know what to say ??? ???

I was just looking thru some notes and indeed, $16 per night is what we should be paying per person if camping near the ORC area or outdoor pavilion. If you have an trouble getting reimbursed, please send me a PM.

Thanks for the heads-up.
I checked today and they had charged my account $21. (cleared the bank 5/23)

So, I called and asked them about my "reservation for the Kayak Tournament in July", and that "I think I was accidentally overcharged for a tent spot". "I was charged $21, but I heard that others were paying $16"
(Brad?) replied "No mistake, that's the rate..."
I told him that I was informed [by the Grand Pubah Jammer], that it should have been $16, and asked politely "if that was incorrect"
There was an awkward pause... I let him sit in his pause for a few seconds.
"The kayak guys get a 20% discount" he replies.
Me: "OK, since it's only $5 do you want to put it back on my card or just have me take care of it when I'm there?"
Him: "Umm..."
Long awkward pause... still pausing...
"Just talk to someone when you get down here."

OK, thanks.

So, that was a little weirder than I thought it should be, but he promised I could talk to someone when I get there. LOL
I'm not worried no matter what happens; ($5 isn't worth it).  I just thought I'd share.

They must have some folks working the phones that don't know which way is up.  The normal rate is $20 (or was the last time I checked).  A 20% discount makes it $16.

Hey Skidplate,

The owner of the campground doesn't reside onsite or I'm sure it would have been taken care of at the time.  We've had hiccups here and there in the past due specifically to who was manning the phone/register at that given moment.  That said, the owner has always bent over backward to ensure that any issues were rectified immediately and fairly.

I'm sure they will compensate you fairly when you ask.  I know that the owner likes to be on site while we're there because we always have good food, good beer and good attitudes.

Ya, everything is fine with me and I've heard nothing but good things from others. I just thought it was a little odd.

Regardless, I'm going to have a great time. One question though, do most people spend Saturday night in the campground as well, or just head back after the awards ceremony?
