My name is Eric B.  A few of you may know me from NCKA.  I live on the east side of SF Bay.  Pretty much grew up down here apart from a few years in Albany, OR, and Eureka.

Greetings to all my brothers in the Pacific Northwest!

The reason for joining NWKA is to have more fishing-related stuff to read when I'm supposed to be working, but mainly because I'll be spending a couple days camping at Sunset Bay State Park this weekend and wanted to find out as much as possible about the area before paddling out, and maybe even meet up with some of you while there...  or at least receive your blessing while trespassing on your turf. :)  I will tread lightly.

Thanks for having me!

-Eric B

Hey guys.  I'll vouch for Eric B.  Someone show him a good time.

Eric, hopefully coosbayyaker will chime in.  That's his backyard and he fishes Sunset more than everyone else combined I think.

Thank you, Allen.  I'm blushing.

Actually, Roy/Coosbayyakker and I have been in touch via PM already, (thanks for the reg tips, Roy).

Eric, it looks like conditions should be pretty good this coming weekend at Sunset Bay. I have to work or else I would come down and join you. Sunset bay is an awesome place to launch and fish. Lots of structure to fish around!

If I'm not working in Florence this weekend I will be out at Sunset this weekend too. I'm down to fish pretty much anytime.

   Welcome Eric,
I lived in San Lorenzo from 1969 til 1979 . Only been kayaking since 1974 but back then was mostly lakes and rivers. Never did go out in SF Bay. But I didn't know then what I know now.
Make it up to ORC if you can..it's gonna be a blast.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

If you are into hand lining I know a guy in Portland you should talk to ....
J/K =)
I see you at least have a proper fishing kayak so I'll forgive your hand lining transgressions.

That's bad advice FG.  The guy you're thinking of isn't really very good with a hand line either....

Welcome Eric.  I'm too far north to join you but I think you'll like Sunset bay the surrounding structure.

I disagree.  The dude can catch a 24 inch lingcod that weighed something like what-19 pounds?  I don't remember off hand, I just remembered it was AWESOME!  I know I have never been able to catch a 24 inch ling that fat.

Oh, and welcome aboard Eric.  I hope you have a blast at Sunset.

I'm hoping the forecast doesn't go sideways. They raised the swell forecast a little in the last 24 hours. They said it was gonna be 3-4 this morning and they were way off !

As it is i am planning to fish all three days but monday may be in the bay depending how sunday goes
See ya on the water..

Roy, have you ever fished under the train bridge in north bend? I've pulled some nice fish out of there and lost some huge ones too. The current can be annoying but if you fish the pockets it isn't so bad. I might be moving soon and that spot is going to be a short pedal away from the house. Sometimes I feel like it's more productive than fishing out of Charleston.
