The map says I'm 9hrs away :(

I don't think I can make this one by my lonesome.
Justin, a bunch of us will be rollin down from Portland. Why not jump in with some of us in PDX.
The same for everyone else too. Maybe someone could start a carpool thread. I would help you guys out, but I'm a little busy with another tournament. ;)

If you want to save some dough on camping you can camp in my yard where we have a great fire and party it up!

Typical setup, fish saturday morning, awards ceremony and potluck dinner after. Then back to my joint for the real party! and if you don't drink it is still fun to watch the drunks trip on my uneven yard
Hey! I resemble that remark! :drunken_smilie:

Sweeeet! Count me in (again)!

By the looks of this weekends surf report, it seems coming over is out of the question for some "research". Too early to tell, but the following weekend (22/23) could shape up nicely!

7ft at 13 seconds could be doable. I'm thinking about trying it. I've got immersion gear! I predict good fishing this weekend. It might be worth the risk.
Look at the wind. You'd be out of your mind to go out in 20-30 MPH winds. Look at the secondary swell also.

This is a very nice invite, thank you! It was nice to meet you and chat for a few minutes a couple of weeks ago when I was down there. Sorry we weren't able to stay out on the big water longer; it was a bit much for us so we headed back into the bay.

So being that I'm a newbie here, what is the event exactly? Single biggest fish? Most pounds? Biggest ling?

I'm going to look at the schedule and see if I can make it work.

Nice meeting you guys too. Hopefully next time it will be a little friendlier out there.

The tourny is styled after the AOTY, points per inch of eligible species, usually rockfish, cabezon, lingcod or greenling. someone did catch a flounder last year though.

Hope to see you down here for the tourny
See ya on the water..

I really wish I could make this tourny.  But, between ORC, a tuna charter in mid-August, a trip to Hobuck here in about a week, and trying to talk SWMBO into joining a second trip to Hobuck, I just don't see having the time.

I really wanted to fish this weekend also, but wind is a HUGE factor in deciding go/ no go for me

Thanks for the reminder and the official invite/rules! It is looking more likely that we can make it down that weekend. Do you need to know in advance, or just show up for sign in?

it would be nice to get an idea of who is coming but you can just show up too. It will be first come first serve for camping at my property . there is also Sunset Bay campground which is reservation and probably difficult to get a spot this time of year and Bastendorff county park which is first come first served so getting there early would be wise. Also there are a few small motels on Cape Arago Hwy. Plainview Motel is real close to my house.

Like the ORC, we will have a potluck dinner on Saturday evening at Sunset Bay state park and a bonfire at my house after.

See you all there....
See ya on the water..
