I just received the Lowrance fish finder from the auction to raise money for the Ohbryant memorial.

Turns out that Lowrance didn't have the Elite 5 gold in stock and upgraded me to the Elite 7 HDI Gold for free.

The thing is huge.  Now to figure out how to fit it on my Ultra 4.3.

Yes, I do realize that I will probably never catch another fish again because I will be playing with my electronics instead of fishing.

I love the Elite-7HDI that I just mounted on my PA12...this new Lowrance unit is sweet and so easy to use, more time for fishing and almost no messing around with it...

Yes it came with a Navionics Gold chip.

I'm glad to hear it's easy to use and doesn't require too much messing around.   Unfortunately I can see myself spending a lot of time making my own bathymetry maps using the new Insight Genesis service.

Battery hog!  You may have to upgrade your power source.

That thing draws 1.1A typical.  Maybe a 15000 mAh Li-ion pack?

This should work:

Ha ha, JK.

I think the battery backup that Craig is using is the best thing I've seen since it can be dual purpose and I believe there is a 20A version as well.

Is this it?

That looks like it would work (has multiple voltage options), but for that price I'd rather have two of the 10A units. Or buy one 10A unit and have some other sort of backup kept in the car to get a couple more hours if necessary.

Brian,

Keep in mind that these are just batteries in fancy cases and you could build a simple wire harness and get the full 20A capacity out of two (or more) of the 10A units kept in a waterproof case if your end goal is to have the most run time possible. I always like the utility of having more options.

Brian has a child bladder time limitation, so 20 mah is probably overkill.
