I don't know about everyone else but I'm chomping at the bit to get out and slay the pinks and maybe get the bonus silver!

I so often see groups in Oregon and Alaska organizing gatherings,  not so much with us in this area.   Would be fun to have something of a PINKS ALL OUT fishing tourney.    I think we could come up with prizes decent enough to make it worth going out and fishing for.
I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

Catching a mess of Pink for the smoker does it for me...prizes will certainly complicate my obsessive/compulsive behavior...damn it!

All ready have camping reservations at Dash Point State Park for two weekends in Aug just to be closer to launching from the parks beaches. Figured fish in the morning and BBQ a few pinks for dinner!

That's cool to see you guys get excited about pinks! Up here they are pretty much a trash fish. They choke out the rivers and make it hard to fish for other things.

They are a good fish to get kids to fish for. Kinda like training wheels of the fishing world

With all due respect, I've got to disagree with my Alaskan neighbor here. Pinks are fun to catch, smoke up deliciously, and I'd fish for 'em like crazy if we weren't blessed with strong runs of reds and silvers and chums. I've got a lot of respect for you folks who find your joy in fishing Outside despite the regulatory restrictions and diminished runs of the 21st century.  Even I can look like I've got skills here in the land of abundance. Pretty sure I can't hold a candle to lots of our southern brethren who produce so consistently.

Have a ball hunting pinks, guys. I like to smoke them and then jar 'em with jalapeño peppers. tasty.

Geez I wasn't making fun of them! I just thought that's neat that they are considered a game fish in other parts of the country!

If I asked anyone I fish with if they wanted to go pink fishing they would look at me like I was nuts.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd probably like them smoked too.
I'm actually not much of a salmon fan of any species but I do like smoked salmon.

My mistake Matt -- thought you were. Should have known better than that. I think it was the training wheels remark that did it.

How could anyone take the Fish for Children and Training Wheels comment in a negative way  ;D

It is all relevant to what your area has to offer and personal taste.   Down here we don't get them in such great numbers so it can be a challenge at times to get them.  As akfishergal expressed so well, they put up a good fight on light tackle which is why I enjoy targeting them, especially from a Kayak.

From what I have heard so far,  this is going to be a great event thanks to  islandson671's hard work.   Hopefully it will join the other annual events we have to look forward to each year.
