Hey man, your name is mark, right? If you make it down to coos bay for some bottom fishing I would be more than happy to put you on some fish. It really isn't much of a secret. I'll even show you some of my favorite jigs.
I'm free to fish on weekends mostly. Find a time with a good chance of decent weather/conditions and I'll show you where the fish hang out. I can't promise you'll catch anything. That's up to you :)

I'd generally recommend Pacific City but the forecast for the weekend doesn't look very good for a surf launch. It's still early in the week though, so you should have a much better idea tomorrow or Thursday. There is also a campground right across from the beach, assuming you wanted to camp. But Chris's offer is pretty hard to beat.

Hey Mark, you might consider attending the Sunset Bay Angler of the Day tournament. I believe it's set for the first Saturday in August. I think if you liked the ORC this would be the next best thing...and it's only a couple  of weeks away!
The launch is even less intimidating than that of Depoe Bay...unless you get sketched by lake launching  ;D
There is some pretty well protected areas to fish if you aren't feeling comfortable venturing out too far.
The Dalles is an awfully long drive to get yourself salty all the way down here. Though I can't speak for anyone here but there has to be someone willing to get you on fish that lives a little closer to you.
But if you're itching to get the tourney vibe going then get signed up and make your way down to the 'dirty bay'.

If you're just looking to fish then go with a closer to home option. If you like to compete then make the trip!

My wife and I are tentatively planning on fishing the salt this Saturday or Sunday, with Pacific City looking like a likely target, but as some said above the surf report is not looking ideal for a surf launch so far (but doable, depending on your skill level). I'll post back when/if our plans firm up. It's no secret that you can find fish right on the rock, or watch where the dory boats go near there to see where the reef is. You're welcome to fish with us but we just kind of take it easy, not too hardcore.

It looks to me like the conditions are pretty similar all over the central and north coast, so depending on which way the forecast swings it could be decent or a little dicey. I guess we'll see.

Perhaps some of the other guys will have some good input.  One of the nice things is that if the weather is bad on the ocean side you can often fish on the strait side.

this is where I learned to kayak fish and holds a special place in my heart.  Wishing I had a outback or revo... it would definitely expand my range.  PM me if you want to talk more.

thanks all....I don`t know where to go...but don`t mind a drive either, I do know I need to get out "there" this weekend if at all doable, my daughter is camping till Monday with her friends so I have the green light to venture and find somewhere doable I would feel comfortable taking her with next time. since anywhere is a drive for me preferable that if it gets nasty can still fish somewhere that is kinda sheltered, that is why am leaning toward sunset beach area....I would go for depoe again but am still bummed out could only get out Saturday(got to Chinook bend Tuesday nite and wanted to fish every day...).....Friday doable but decided to save my muscles for Saturday as Friday it looked like it was still pretty rocking ....anyway looking at either neah bay or sunset I guess.if doable anywhere am outta here Thursday after work....tight lines to all.

I would avoid neah bay this weekend. Hobuck is closed for some huge rave.
