HEY EVERYONE !!!!!!!

Long time no talk ( been busy with life/work ) I'm sure you all understand ;).. Well I caught this guy last weekend in the PB about 6 miles south of the CR bouy... It was about 26" with small black spots along the back and on the tail, fin clipped, and its mouth was completely white, absolutely no black and unusually slimy.. I'm not exactly sure what it is, the fish checker dude and the gamie both thought that it was a pink but being from around here weren't really sure? I've certainly never caught a pink in these water or heard of one being caught but It matches the description... any thought's ?

Thanks
Brian

Steelhead.

Scales are too large and tail doesn't have enough fork for a humpy.

Well steelhead was the other thing we talked about it being but none of us had ever seen a steelhead caught so far off shore.... and my father-in-law has been fishing these waters well over 30 years

The fact that the fish checker and the gamie couldn't instantly id it is a bit troublesome.  That ivory white mouth is another sure sign.  Where were is PB?  Cool you caught it in the salt.

The uniform rays of black spots on the second picture sways me towards steelhead over coho. Obviously you can't tell from a photo, but the tail fin appears to be smooth rather than rough.

I agree. It's a trout.
Note the anal fin.

Yup steel all the way!
Pink look completely different. Pinks have tiny scales that fall off when you look at them and much larger spots on the tail.
