Ok so I went out Sunday as planned (Meadow Point) and the fish were everywhere! At one point a school was jumping right off my boat! I caught 4 pinks (I think) and was trying for something else. I did CR on the rest because I can't seem to tell the difference, which I assumed meant that others were pinks as well. I'm including two pics of the catch that "seem" different to me, but both had black tongues and what appear to be ovals and dots on both lobes of the tails. Are these pinks do you think? The other two looked just like these. Oh and they have tiny scales, so I don't think they are Silvers. Thanks for helping the newbie!

Yeah, they're pinks.  The bottom picture is a male, with a hump back, which is why they are nick-named "humpies"

The mouth is the easiest way to tell the most common salmon apart.  Pinks hardly have teeth, just kinda sandpaper in the mouth.

Silvers (coho) and Kings (chinook) have teeth, and will rip your hand up if you reach in their mouth.  Coho have white gums, and Chinook have Black gums

Ditto what Lee said.

BTW, if you're not sure what you're catching, you probably shouldn't keep it.

Agreed. I thought they were pinks, but the body shape looked different so wasn't sure and wanted confirmation. I used the cheatsheet from the guide to ID them using their tongue color, tail markings and scales. I felt pretty confident I made the right match, but wanted to make sure with folks that had more experience. Thanks for your concern.

not that it matters that much, but I think they are both males.  Did the top one have eggs in it?  I think it's just doesn't have much of a hump yet.  Plus females are usually smaller, the top one looks pretty big.

Could just be me, but I think females are tastier.  They have brighter flesh, and I you can cure the eggs.  I.E. you get more value out of every pink punch on the card!  just me tho.

One was 27", and the other was just shy of 26. Neither had eggs, so my guess both males then.

Can you tell me how should I record multiple pinks? Should I put each fish on new line? So I got 2 pinks last Sunday, should I put in 2 identical records for yesterday with a check on Pink? Or should I just put in 1 record for yesterday no matter how many pinks I got? I even read the instruction WDFW website http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/catch_record_card/crc_instructions.pdf , but it is sill not very clear.

Thanks!

Record each fish on it's own line.  Two fish should be two lines used.

Also, if you don't record it right after you catch the fish, they will ticket you if you get checked.
