I realize that I'm completely new to both Kayaking and NWKA but I would LOVE to get out and learn how to do this with folks who won't let me make some stupid mistakes that might get me into some trouble.
Any word on how to sign up?
I have an anchor set up, but still looking for the best way to install it.
It has got to be a blast when one of those big ones pulls you around for a while ;D

I'm in if you'll have me.

Here is a couple easy ways to install anchors. http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=10240.0
The one in the video is the easiest set-up and allows the anchor to run off the bow or stern of the kayak.  The trolley is nice, but the anchor is usually running off one side or another adding more drag to your kayak. I only use my trolley for a drift sock now, or for grab lines if I fall in the water.

Time to chisel away some freezer frost and find that piece of lucky bait.

DUDE!  I'm fishing next to you!

AJ,

I will pay your entry fee if you just bless/grace us with your presence. Plus if you attend we'll probably get 6-8 more participants that just want to come and get some autographs and selfies. Bring a stack of signed headshots.

Stay thirsty my friend. Hope to see you there.

That's a mighty kind offer, Ling Ling. Pretty sure I'll dive into this. Working out the details with my spiritual advisor...broseidon be thy name. I'll get the entry fee; just be sure to put a cold one or five - for the jade - in the cooler.

I'll sign most anything, moobs included.

I would be honored to share an anchor with you Jadester if you need a buddy to hunker down with.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but I don't think this event would be a very good start for your sturgeon fishing.  There are going to be too many boats on the water for you to be learning how to anchor your boat in between them.   It can be very difficult for those that have lots of experience.

Just my 2 cents.

Despite Noah's closed mindedness, I'd be happy to hunker in your bunker, Paul. I have an anchor buddy lined up, but will keep you posted.

I didn't say I was opposed to the idea, I just want to make sure I have the gopro going at the right time. I'm pretty sure there is a market on the old interweb somewhere.....

Not taken the wrong way at all.....I actually appreciate the concern.
I'm going to get some practice in with some of the great info. I'm picking up from reading through some of the posts on here.
I'm sure I'll be OK and I look forward to learning more every time I'm out for quite a while......I ain't (too) skeart ;)
I'll stay out a bit and watch until I'm comfortable enough to get in closer.
Bumper boats isn't completely new to me.....Just the kayak aspect.
Hopefully, I have never torqued any kayak guys while running around in my PB....I've always been considerate because I've always wanted to be the guy in the kayak ;)
I'm still in if you'll have me.

You can't learn without trying.  I am new to kayak fishing but have common sense and am planning on coming out to meet some like minded enthusiasts and practice, learn, have fun. If we don't get in the way of other people's fun we should be aok.  I was at Next Adventure today and they were very encouraging.  See you out there!

Come on out. I'd suggest getting out a few times before and practicing your anchoring. It will be VERY crowded on the river that day.

Killer information to glean from this site!
I'm putting something together that I'm sure will do what it needs to do and keep me safe...Pretty much a cross between the BSteve deal and a drift boat set up.

Great Site Folks!

Thanks!  :wav:
