Here is a map of the bay. Be sure to avoid the "North Reef" if there is any swell. Lots of people were cutting across it last year(including myself) it goes from about 70 feet deep to about 10 feet deep really fast and waves were breaking over it occasionally. I also heard power boaters come on the radio a few times warning kayakers to stay away from there. I was surprised no one mentioned it last year. Hopefully the swell is small enough that we done have to worry about it. :)

It was mentioned A LOT of times last year.  But it can't be mentioned enough.  Do NOT cross the north reef.  And if fishing anywhere near it, always be aware of your depth and incoming sets.  Anything <20 feet and I'd get the heck out of there.

Take a look at last years thread . Lots of good maps. Then do your homework.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Got my reservation in at Chinook Bend for Wednesday through Saturday night. Shaun told me it was 20% off of the regular rate for tenting and RVing and that it was Kosher to let you all know that. Group tent area will be $20 instead of $25. I'm not sure what the RVing rate is...
I'll be going solo without the family. Anyone that wants to head out of Depoe Bay on Thursday and/or Friday morning to scout, let me know. I'll be checking out a few areas and dropping a crab trap.

Never fished for 'em, but would be willing to give it a try. Do you use squid jigs?

Uh, unfortunately, I don't have a squid jig that would catch a 6' Humboldt Squid... I watched 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea several times though, so I think I'm ready.
