Usually the deal is you have to hook and net it yourself.  I've also seen something like "power yourself to and from the launch" and my wife pedals sometimes, but I do most of the work as her hip starts aching after about 20 minutes.  Prior to her hip stuff we always used separate boats, and she still outfished me.

Don't worry, I won't help her land it if we're competing... :)

I think the primary concern here was going the other direction >:D

My son and I are going to be there this year - planning to actually camp with the group this time around!

Alright, I'm committed to this one too. If I compete in 3 tourneys I have 3x chance of winning a new kayak, right?  ???  (there's some fishing logic for you)

And I'll ask the same question I ask in every tourney thread: are tandems allowed? (Assuming 2x entry fees and each person obeys the rules, etc.)

Unless explicitly restricted, I've been going on the assumption that tandems are allowed.  Following the other comments from yourself and others - we just have to make sure we stay within the guidelines.  We may have fudged it a bit when my son caught the largest bass in the bass tournament 2 years ago (thinking back about it, I may have handled the net and measuring from my spot in the Oasis) - but will certainly make sure we follow the posted rules for this and any others we might participate.  Of course, I was skunked at ORC last year, so we may not even have anything to worry about in the catching realm!

Tandems were allowed last year, waterman fished out of one with a buddy, so I'm sure it will be the same rules this year.

Tandems are allowed. Both anglers need to be paid up separately and both need to fish and power the kayak together. No free rides. You both must participate.

I was telling a buddy of mine about this tourney and he asked what the entry fee was, so I directed him here... whoops!

Can we get an update to the front page with entry fee and more specifics, like a map. I realize that it may be possible to glean some of that from the previous years' threads, but they're like 30 pages long. It would be nice to have some basic info all in one place on the main announcement.

Thank you for the responses on the tandems. All understood and looking forward to it.

Last couple years at least the entry fee was $40.  Wouldn't be too surprised though to see that go up this year given the Hobie Worlds connection (and offer for $1000 towards airfare for the winner).
