The Wenoka is awesome. Been my PFD knife for three or four years, no rust. My bait knife is the 3.5" victorinox serrated pairing knife. Crazy fucking sharp, doesn't rust and it is less than $10. Makes a great back up PFD knife too with the $5 kydex sheath.

I use the Wenoka freediving and it's awesome.  Might get another if I loose my current PDF knife.

While it looks cool and attaches well to the PFD, the effort I put to make a cut is not compatible with my personal feel of safety.

Are you saying it's dull, or some other issue?
It is not dull. At least I sharpened mine. I guess it is just the shape of the blade.

Yeah I had the NRS copilot.  Great bottle opener, worthless knife.  I'm glad it's rusting at the bottom of the ocean.  I can open a bottle with just about anything.

I've got the Wenoka. Its been great since 2010. I got the blunt tip, but I think I would have rather had the pointed one in hind site. Like others have said, it has held up really well. No complaints here.

As for a bait knife... well I've switched to shears. Much more versatile IMO. I'm on my 3rd pair now though, but his one is tethered with a float.  ::)

I too, have the NRS Pilot and did not like that it had only one cutting edge. I could see myself hacking away at something with that unsharpened side. So I sharpened the dull edge also. Now I don't need to think about what edge to use if a situation arises.

Oh, Langcod if I start looking for a bottle opener...

My rescue knife attached to my PFD which never gets used is a Wenoka Big Squeeze Lock Titanium Tanto.  I like it because EVERY edge is sharp.  If I need it it won't matter which way or hand I pull it and won't matter which direction I slash - something will get cut.

A have a "boat knife", a Kershaw Sea Hunter knife.  I used existing holes in the sheath and existing screws holding down one of the side pocket meshes on my Revo13 to rigidly mount the sheath to the boat.  A bit of paracord leashes the knife to the sheath and stuffs neatly into the mesh pocket.

Wouldn't mind seeing a pic of the sheathed knife on your yak

Used two screws from the mesh pocket mount to mount the sheath. It's on the left pocket. Forward is to the left, aft to the right.  Leash is through the knife's handle hole and secured to a hole on the sheath.

I have a boot buddy knife I'm trying to find a hard sheikh for to do the same thing with but may just buy a dive knife , I need to put some mesh pockets on my tuna as it's still mostly bare save for the rod holder balls. Thanks for the pic where did you pick up the knife?

I don't remember where I got the knife.   If you Google "Kershaw Sea Hunter knife" you'll get a lot of hits and could find the cheapest source.  I got the spear point.  At the time I think I paid about $40, but today Amazon has it for $27.

It's a stainless blade so rust resistant, but not nearly as resistant as titanium.  I rinse it after each trip, let it dry out of the sheath and oil it when I do the mirage drive and rudder.

to each their own, but i think the optimal placement for a dive knife is on one's body.

and since your sheath is bolted down to the boat, leashing the knife to the sheath greatly restricts the # of scenarios in which you could effectively deploy the knife.

I believe the knife leashed to the boat is a bait/ utility knife rather than an emergency pfd knife. I believe both are important.

That was understood I just wanted to see the sheath bolted on set up
