I believe the knife leashed to the boat is a bait/ utility knife rather than an emergency pfd knife. I believe both are important.
That was understood I just wanted to see the sheath bolted on set up
JoJo ... I knew you knew that ... just clarifying for other people who weren't paying attention to the entire tread before donning the safety Nazi hat..... =)

to each their own, but i think the optimal placement for a dive knife is on one's body.

and since your sheath is bolted down to the boat, leashing the knife to the sheath greatly restricts the # of scenarios in which you could effectively deploy the knife.

I have a bait/utility knife attached to the boat, and a rescue/emergency knife on my PFD.
