So this year I decided to have the majority of my vacation "after' the ORC instead of the week before....  Now I need to figure out where to go.

I'll be staying at Chinook Bend for the ORC from Wed - Sun morning.  I have the next few days to plan after that.

Any good ideas on what water I should hit on my way back home?

EDIT: I really wouldn't mind hanging out on the coast for a few more days if I had somebody to fish with.

Which route will you be taking home?

Nevermind. I was thinking of Burns. Did not realize  Baker City is further North.

I was thinking about cutting through the middle of the state on the return journey.  It would be nice to fish some new water (to me).

I know some nice fresh water oppurtunities in my neck of the woods.

Coming back east on 126 there is Blue River Resevoir that produces some decent trout and koks. Also The Mckenzie river runs along 126 and has plenty of bank fishing oppurtunities for some really nice trout, pretty busy water for a SOT.

Even better coming back east on 58, you have Hills Creek reservoir with nice trout and koks, you can easily troll along the dam and pretty much catch fish all day or go all the way to the back of the reservoir and fish where the river dumps in. Then Odell lake with lake trout, koks and other trout. Then Crescent on the top of the pass. This is a nice producing lake for browns, koks, lake trout and etc. I have pulled some really nice fish out of Crescent. There is lake called Waldo lake, this is a non-motorized lake and is just full of fish (bring bug spray). There are some other small non-motorized lakes in that general area too. Heading home you can take the cascade lakes highway and there is multiple small lakes that all produce very well. Odell, Crecent and all the high cascade lakes can get a bit windy at times just to warn you. Odell and Crescent both have campgrounds and lodges. Or you can cruise down to Sunset bay and hang with the Coos kayak guys.

Maybe hit Diamond Lake (east of Eugene, south of Bend) for some big trout and mosquito bites.

This is going to be a tough choice.  I think that if the weather is good, I'm going to stay near the coast.  If it's not so friendly, I'll head towards the Bend area.

Problem with the coast is that I don't want to fish alone on the salt (I'm a baby).

JoJo, I might hit you up on the offer, are you available all week?

Should be available as a steel rod to the head retired me. As long as TLW don't have plans ( that's rare) we like to stay close to home. I will be available for some crabbing and fishing.

I don't have any traps.  do you have extras or should I pick a couple up at Bimart?

I don't think crabs will fit in my crawdad traps.
