Hey ORC Anglers,
I hope you're all getting as excited as we are. With a only a few days left until tournament day, we wanted to update you with some important details.
Captains Meeting
Captains Meeting will be this Friday at 8PM at Chinook Bend Campground. We will be excepting waivers Friday between 6-8 pm at Chinook Bend. After you read, sign, turn in your waiver and we confirm your payment you will be handed your captains bag and your lucky Poker chip. This poker chip needs to physically stay with you until the raffle starts immediately following the awards ceremony on Saturday at 8PM.
Shuttle Service
To minimize our impact on Depoe Bay we are offering a shuttle service from the Chinook Bend campground nonstop to Depoe Bay this year thanks to Next Adventure. The departure of this shuttle will be as follows, 4:30AM, 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30. There will be a sign up available starting Friday night between 6-8PM. Please be on time and ready to load at your AM shuttle time or you will unfortunately be left behind. There will be between 8-9 seats available per shuttle.
Lot Attendant
We will also have a parking lot attendant that will be available starting at 5AM in the Depoe Bay parking lot to assist. This person will also be available to except last minute waivers and supply you a Poker chip(as long as you've paid). Before you launch you will need to "check in" using your poker chip and then "check out" when you return. This is very important!
Carpool
Carpool is a must for this tournament. Please don't roll into the parking lot alone Saturday morning or the lot attendant will send you back up to park on 101. Please carpool or shuttle! If you have any question or need to be paired with someone, let us know at the captains meeting Friday night.
Fish Weigh in Station
Fish weigh in station will be just east of the fish cleaning station thanks to Kayak Shed. Look for the flags and tents. You will need to again show your Poker Chip and weigh your biggest fish. Your fish weight will be recorded and your photo taken.
Awards ceremony and raffle
Awards ceremony will be Sat night starting at around 8PM. Please bring your favorite camping chair, poker chip and prepare to win. Prizes are great this year!

See you guys in Depoe Bay for the ORC.

I really appreciate the clarity this brings, thank you!

Really awesome about the shuttle, etc. Sounds well-organized. Thank you in advance to everyone putting this together. That's a lot of moving pieces.

Will there be accommodations for private vehicle drop ports at the launch?  Like if my wife drives me to the launch at 4am to drop me off then leaves and comes back to pick me up at 1:30?

Absolutely, drop and goes are always welcome. Just be ready to move your stuff quickly and send your drivers on their way.

She is more than welcome to do that, but when you are putting your gear together, please do not block the ramp.  I am not accusing you of plotting to block the ramp, and I know that goes without saying, however, I will say it here anyways.  ;)

In fact, if your wife wants to make numerous shuttle trips, she is more than welcome.  ;D

Everyone:
Please have all your gear ready to go so you can hop in your yak and go when you use the ramp.  No attaching fish finders and loading crates in the water please!  We are reaching capacity and I had a nice conversation with the Coast Guard today ensuring we would pose a minimal impact with our participants. We would like to continue to hold this contest here for many more years. This area to the left is a good spot for people being dropped off.  It keeps everyone clear of the boat traffic.

I'm not offended. I'm trying to be a good citizen away from home. I don't have I live with the fallout, so I don't want to cause any problems for those that do. I remember listening to 80 last year and all the power boats bitching about us.

If each one of us uses the launch as fast or faster than the average powerboat they should not complain since it is there for everyone.

IMO; PB's bitching about us isn't going to change no matter how much we contribute to the community or how well behaved we are. The best we can do is take the ethical high road. Ignore their whining & have a good time. Mind the rules & have cameras on the ready. :angel12:

F#$K the powerboats we has just as much a right to use the facilities as they do and we don't leak oil or gas into the water among other things that all power boats do rather it be a few drops or a puddle.

So what you are saying is that I can't park in a public parking lot on Saturday morning, and launch my yak via wheels like I have done the past 4 years?

Seriously! a little more heads up would have been nice. I'm backing my trailer down the ramp and launching my boats then i will park on the hill leading up to 101 but i'm not parking all the way up on 101.
See ya on the water..
