Yes, hopefully I'll have some fish soon to help me break it in.  Just installed the sailing rudder and turbo fins, and I have a few questions.  Does anyone keep the foot straps on?  I'm inclined to just remove them.  And, I'm thinking of putting my ff battery in the middle hatch just towards the bow so I can still use the gear box.  Any reason not to do that?  This is a revo 13.
I put my batteries in the middle.  It makes it easier to change out when one goes dead.  I bought one of these to make it easier. http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-EC-25-Cable-Connector-Extension/dp/B003WDEYPE/ref=pd_sim_auto_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0TTC5BNSM3Z3FVCA8VY2

but it is probably not necessary.

I removed my straps and also cut off the little pegs on the pedals. Seemed like my net and line were always getting caught on them.

Merz......I had both an Outback and now a PA-14....never once did my rubber coated net get caught on the pedal pegs or fishing line......I am sure this is because I installed heel straps on the pedals , so the small strap pegs were utilized.....unless your have not tried heel straps, you do not know how nice they are, especially if you are pedaling for an extended time period....your heels "hang on the pedals".......

Can we see a picture?

Without straps installed, the pegs turn into little hooks that snag everything. Seemed like everytime i went to net a salmon, I would end up getting hooked on the pegs. Everytime it happened, I would tell myself to remember to cut them off when i got home. After about a dozen time, I finally did it, and I feel like its about the best mod I have done to my hobie. A rubber coated net might have helped.

I would be interested in a picture also, not that I would be able to install them with my pegs cut off.

I have never thought to cut those pegs off. That's a game changer for me.

I made my heel straps out of some left over 1" wide, NRS-20 strap/webbing material  when I customized the strap length to secure my PA-14 to my trailer. Here are a couple of photo's. These are simple and effective.

I should mention that I used an old soldering iron to carefully "melt" the rectangular slot in the webbing. If you look closely, I doubled back/over the webbing so it "fills up the available peg" and keep it in place.

These heal straps may be one of the best ideas going.  Very clever!

Keep the foot strap on, it lets you pull in addition to push.  I would have been able to crank my revo over 7.5 mph without them.

OK, thanks Nate.  I just might need to add the heel straps as well.  Certainly they will need to be loose enough so that I pop right out during the inevitable huli.  By the way, did you confirm that speed through GPS tracking?

Love it...on top of a FIT.   Get that yellow thing bloody.  Enjoy.
I thought to ditch the foot straps, but decided to keep them.  Heel Straps are a much better idea!
The best would be some bicycle clip pedals and clips on the bottom of my kayak shoes!
Bicycle pedals you say ......
I happen to know a guy right here in our forum is putting together a group buy on mirage drive arms that can either use stock hobie pedals or any bicycle pedal, plus they are way stronger than stock.
The really great part is just because he loves the guys of NWKA (well most of them) he is offering the preorders at a 40% discount.
Check out the thread about Rock Solid Hobie Arms. :D

GPS tracking on flat water.   I could only hold the max speed for a few seconds.

I feel the start of a new thread .... Fastest recorded speeds each person get their boat up to .... Rivers don't count!
So far we have one entry of 7.5 mph
Anyone else?
