I didn't get up to 7.5, but cruised along at about 6 for quite awhile.  I'm just totally amazed at the performance of this new kayak.  My old barge was exactly that.  Sure, it had serious real estate, but what a slug.  I'll try for the top speed next time.  Maybe my bicycle racing past will help.

Kyle, that is a nice looking kayak. How are you liking the outback with Lowrance HDS 5?

The kayak is a revo 13.  I'm still getting used to the ff.  it was on sale, otherwise I was considering the elite 5.  Love both!  Never had GPS on the ff before.  I'll make good use of the mapping and waypoints.  Totally ready for salmon, and currently looking for a surf launch window.  Maybe tomorrow....

How do you have your FF wired to the battery/transducer?  Do you have a thru hull fitting that is watertight?
Where are you planning your surf practice??  Would like to observe and participate in such practice soon (I have a revo11).

The 2014 Revo has through hull ports that include rubber bushings.  There actually wasn't a rubber bushing that could take all three cords, but they fill the space up enough to not be a concern.  And, I don't need any surf practice.  This is a new boat, but I'll get used to it during my first surf launch with it.  If I huli I'll just get back on and keep going.
