If regular shampoo can both a verb and a noun so can wood shampoo.

Fish Bonker?  Wood Shampoo? Until I saw it done in Pacific City I thought the wood shampoo referenced what you get at massage parlors in Vegas...or something.  Man, WHEW...good thing I got that straightened out.

We all know what the true meaning of catch and release is, especially with the current status of the sturgeon fishery.  However, I have been known to use this phrase in a different way.

Catch and release - The response that can be given when you don't want to admit that you didn't catch any fish on a fishing trip.

Chum - To Vomit. The dispensing of stomach contents into the water as a method of attracting fish.

Landlord - Great White Shark. aka "GWS". Used in the same context in pop culture "Voldemort" or "He who must not be named" as if speaking the real name will conjure the apex predator from the deep.

Furbag- Sea Lion. A term of endearment used for seals and sea lions celebrating the harmony and the equal sharing of habitat and fish.

Long distance release or LDR, often used by kokanee fishermen. You wouldn't have kept it anyway.

And then there is "drive by" which is an LDR of shorter duration although the distiction is vague and so one man's drive by may be another man's LDR.

As far as the term "shaker" goes. When I was growing up at the coast, the commercial fishermen would refer to their salmon as shakers or splitters. The splitters were the big Chinook that they got more money per pound for. I have not heard the term "splitter" in ages. Has anyone else heard a big Chinook called a splitter?
