Siletz Chinook

Outstanding sunny day on the Siletz after a couple days of rain...lots of Chinook in the river. 
The Siletz has been generous to me - caught this 17# bright fish about 10 minutes after launching.  Saw lots of fish caught near the 101 bridge with bobber/eggs.  Spinners were very effective as the tide went down.  This chinook was tricked by a whole herring trolled on the bottom at high slack. 

Nice fish , Barb! Man, that river can be tough....spent 3 days there last fall. Was talking to myself on the third day....fish were splashing me they were rolling so close.1 bite in three days......

Nice one again, Barb. Looks like I may have to give herring another chance this year.

You Da Man Barb!  I know a lot of people who've been bested by that river.  Now, find us one of those 40lb pigs.

Siletz again on Sunday - launch at 9am from Coyote Rock.  Anyone is welcome to join, group of 4 kayakers going so far. 3 are fishing, one is designated photographer.  Launch fee is $4 per kayak payable at the store - easy boat launch.  Should be some good action for catching tomorrow!  Will report back on our findings.

The Siletz was packed with fish catchers on Sunday.  Saw 2 kayakers close to the 101 bridge and heard they did well on Chinook.  In our group of 4 kayakers, I caught one 10# coho in the afternoon on a spinner.  Turned into a very nice day on the water except for the occasional wind gusts.

Barb that was us on Sunday near 101 bridge. Here's the guys fish that was with me. Not bad for a first timer. Drifted eggs on morning bite. We finished in 90 minutes. At one point we had Jack Glass and his clients cheering us on. Great day! Sorry we missed you guys.

Way to go Michael!  I'll bet the guy was stoked.

I'm impressed how you put yourself in the right place at the right time armed with the right gear and knowledge of how to get it done.  Someday I aspire to be that good.  Very FUN. 

 like the low sqat pose.  Is that the new long arm?  It makes the fish look really long.

My (non fishing) friend asked me one time if I had been sending the same photo...sheesh.
