Join Kayak Shed for a 3 day - 2 night kayak fishing trip down the John Day River in beautiful Eastern Oregon from June 12th through the 14th. The journey begins on the morning of Friday June 12th from the private Thirtymile boat ramp where we will meet our guide’s support raft(s).  There are 8 available spots for this trip. As this is a semi-guided trip, you will be responsible for bringing your own kayak and fishing gear. You can borrow a tent from the guide but your sleeping bag, pad and pillow are on you.

Our "guide" will provide and prepare the meals while we spend our time fishing. They will also be setting up and breaking down camp for us, your only responsibility will be to set up your own tent or a borrowed one from our guide. All provisions will be carried by our guides, leaving your cooler open for any adult beverages you’d like to bring along.

We will float and fish an average of 15 miles per day as we meander through the gorgeous John Day Wilderness Area. We will be enjoying the natural beauty offered by the dry side of the state. One of the best features is that it’s not uncommon for fishermen to catch over a 100 bass in a day on this river.

It will be a great adventure for both the experienced and novice kayak fisherman alike. It will make a fantastic father’s day present and great father son/daughter bonding time.

Cost for the trip is $375 and you can register at the following link: http://www.kayakshed.com/shop/john-day-bass-fishing-trip-2015.cfm

A shuttle service will be provided. The exact details of that are still to be determined.

The gist of this is - your vehicle will be parked in a safe location; you will be taken to your vehicle at the end of the trip.

As there are limited spots make sure to sign up fast.

Now I need to figure out what I'm going to need to take with me..... I'm starting with a pair of fly rods!!

Big poppers, curly tail grubs, craw imitations (lots of craw), topwaters (for the midday topwater bite), catfish gear for fishing at camp, water bottles, sunscreen, a camera, snacks that don't melt, a spare thumb (cause 200 bass in a day will leave you raw), a pair of pliers (to pull trebbles out of your hand...), your bow for shooting carp..........

-Mark-
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I'd like to make mention that this trip is happening regardless of how many people are signed up. Kayak Shed has already paid for the trip and we are not making any money on this. Your payment covers only your portion of the cost of the guide.

If you have any questions about the trip please feel free to call or email.

So, this isn't mentioned in the top post.  Will the guide be providing the poo transport or do I need to be picking up some disposable bags?

Got the green light from SWMBO, I'm in! Do we have details on where and when we are meeting up?

You guys are going to have a great time.  I hope to do that trip again some day.  Maybe when my son gets a little older.

The following is a promotional video I did for the Old Town Predator kayak with Spot, Polepole and Bushy a couple years ago. Thanks to proffestional photographer Jason Arnold, the footage should get you pumped up for the scenery.

We caught fish almost every cast.
