The 4th is a bust for me. Got the duty and have to stay in town. The following weekend my wife has friends coming to stay and was thinking of camping at WG, hitting the tides with the YAK, then running everyone around Homer for the sites. Looks like I would be fishing by myself and was wondering who else will be going out?

80% chance I'll be there with my son. Depending on run strength I may try the lower Kenai too.

Looks like I'll be Seward side on the 11/12 weekend.  But. Could switch back to WG IF WEST -side wind and weather are better.   Need to get Susan out on the water on a Hobie one way or another!

Great advice.  I plan to!  I've already lost my 13 year old daughter to music and the social dramas of a teenager.  lol.  Gotta keep the boy interested!

Looks like your kids had a blast though!

Small change of plans....No Guests and the wife wants to give it a try. So we will have a new newbie in the mix. Lots to get done now to make sure she has an enjoyable trip.

Fergy - She was serious enough about getting out we bought a suit, so we are set there.   Now to find $2600 /choke, for another Hobie or Slayer Propel if she digs it!    Hmmm - fishing garage sale won't quite get me there after the suit buy.   ;)    AKRaft&Kayak will rent, so reserved there, and hoping to score a 2015 if she likes it.

Still on track for Seward that weekend, sorry to say, as it would be good to come down and see everyone at WG.   Watching the weather....

UPDATE:  Weather and wave looking OK.  We'll be at Millers Landing, and rolling around the Seward/Lowell Point/Derby Cove coast north of Caines head.  I usually monitor 16 - shout out if anyone comes our way.

I don't know about WG but Anchorage now allows open fires.

As far as I know the fire ban has been lifted for the WG area. There is plenty of driftwood if you can drive down the beech, also plenty of dead wood available if you hike around a little bit.

Burning is ok for WG. There is a place about a half a mile past the WG turnoff on the left that sells great quality wood for an amazing price. They have pre-setup piles labeled $5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 45. It's operating on an honor system,  just load the wood and put ur money in the white box.

I have a few childhood friends that are flying up Friday afternoon and we may stop by if they're into it.

Is anyone going to bring their dipping equipment and try to make a kasilof run?
