I think it is more "be there at the right time and place" than what you are using. When they were hitting, just about everybody around me was busy, and we all couldn't be using the same thing. I know my herring got hit feet and seconds apart from Nate's spinner.

I second what Sherm said.  It was not just a troll game either,  Noah got his fish mooching.

Those fish are cray hungry right now.  I was netting a fish for my uncle, and left my anchovy splashing on the surface, not even all the way in the water, and a coho nailed it.  It was 2 feet from the engine.  That coho tasted really good as nigiri too!

I agree, it's hungry hungry coho time and they aren't very picky when they first arrive, the kings are more selective. I've caught maybe 15 to 20 coho so far off Westport, Ocean Shores, Neah Bay and Sekui.

I've done the best with this plug stuffed with herring bits and with my own bit of bling added. It's landed everything: pinks, cohos and kings for me in the past few weeks. The algae bloom is really bad from shore to about 6 miles out so bright color flashy terminal tackle is what's putting fish in my freezer. I haven't fished inside yet so I can't speak to estuary fishing conditions. Lots of jellyfish and weeds right now too so trolled herring get fouled up fairly quick. And if it ain't spinning...you ain't fishing.

I got my limit in less than an hour.  However, it took me six hours to find the right spot. ::)

After watching Steve (Wobbler) land his Chinook about 300 yards from the launch I had all but resigned to being the "fishless" guy for the day.  But, I figured I may as well troll the herring back to the launch.  About 25 yards later, bam--fish on! Then, sproing--fish off!  >:( I reeled in my gear pulled the herring chunks off the hooks and started heading in.  After a minute, or two, I decided, what the hell, I may as well get skunked all the way back to the launch. So, I put on another herring.  Within 25 yards of deploying the gear, bam--Chinook on! That boy fought like a champ. On the second netting attempt he decided to take 60 feet of line back from me.  The coolest sight I have seen in a while was that fish swimming a 60 foot diameter 3/4 of a circle around my boat with the flasher just skimming under the surface. Then he dove back down.

I finally netted, bonked, bled, and tagged it when I realized I had been sent upstream from the launch about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile due to the incoming tide. I was nearly at the sawdust pile and my lap looked like this. :P

I started cranking my way back in and thought, that is a mighty long way back, may as well put another herring on and troll it back.  I was pedaling as fast as I could towards a spot birds were diving at when a power boater came alongside. We were talking and trolling when my rod doubled over again. I looked back and saw a very acrobatic coho come flying out of the water. After landing and tagging that one, I was back to where I had just started my return trip.  At least after limiting, I didn't have to worry about trolling any longer.

I suppose Langston's vote of approval keeps this off the photo of the month!

Great job guys - looks like a great day out there yesterday!
