Anyone that knows me knows I'm a cheap bastard ,so when I decided to do my first predawn launch I need a light that's CHEAP. So off to Freddy's flashlight section for a hanging tent light $8.99. Took the bottom off unscrewed it removed the hanger clip and drilled a matching hole in it and a 1/2 inch pvc cap. Bolted that together after a little olive drab paint put the cap on a piece of pipe. Put the light back together and presto it was that easy and cheap as can be. Anyone wants more pics or details shoot me a pm.

Nice work! I've been using the YakAttack Visi Carbon Pro. It's $85 for a flag/light combo. That's pretty ridiculous for something so simple.
Your design looks pretty sweet. That would fit perfectly in the mast hole on a Hobie.  I dig it.  ;D

How bright is the light itself?

So to attach the thing I got to thinking more, almost hurt myself. I was given a broken bummingbird ff with no transducer..... But it's on a Scotty mount. So took it apart drilled another cap and now the other end has a Scotty mount ;D just needs some paint and I think I'm going to pin it together rather then glue.

Looks good and sounds like you can't beat the price....   I would just give all contact points a good wipe down with dielectric grease.   Guessing the green vs high visibility color paint was to match your kayak ?

Green was what I had in a rattle can  :banjo:
No contact points it's totally self contained runs on 3 AAA and is water resistant. Going to buy a couple extra so if it fails just twist on a new one.
