Was trolling the ghost hole with my buddy on his PB when we spotted the ever elusive kayak fisher "spot on" paddling his arse off. Word has it he was able to capture his natural pray the "chinook salmon" but seeing is believing? Pictures man pictures! We were able to pull 3 nooks out of the jaws early on and I "farmed" the 4th at the boat  :o
Here's a few shot of spot and my catch.

Those are some cute little jacks you've got there Mojo.  ;)

It was good seeing you on the water today.  Pretty slow day in the bay overall.  I saw 4 fish caught other than mine.

I decided to take some advice that Pelagic had offered many years ago and ran a Green and Chartreuse thumper spinner.  Dang but that boy knew how to catch fish!  This one's for you Ron.

Now that's what I'm talking about way to go Mark beautiful fish, native or hatch? Looks like native but hard to tell if that's a fin or background.  Little jacks are better then big skunk in my book any day my brother.

Great fish.  Love the way chrome lights up in the sun.

How was the salad?  I tried just outside that launch on Friday and it was unfishable because of a continous blanket of sea grass.  Probably due to the large tidal exchange.  I didn't head up to the Ghost Hole.  Maybe I should have.

Packed up and tried the Nehalem for the first time.  Hard to believe ODFW was worried about the wild coho this season.

So many cool spots on the coast, wish I had time to explore them all.

Really nice fish dude. You seem to have a way of getting the big ones.
On as spinner, nonetheless, and I thought they only bite herring.

We were heading home Sunday mid-day after a weekend of camping at Nehalem Bay SP (got skunked off the Wheeler dock but saw lots of fish landed in boats and by others on the dock) and on our way past the Ghost Hole I told Mrs. P to watch for yaks and there were two yellow ones out there. Now I know who we saw !

Thanks Guys!

Mojo, I was just teasing you my friend.  You got some quality fish.  And, yes, that was a native. 1W on the card.

The seagrass was unbearable at times Sunday.  There were periods where I was checking my line every 5 to 10min.

I'm usually a herring or red and white spinner guy in T-Bay but after earlier successes this year with that color combo, I decided to give it an honest try.  I'll admit, I had a herring pinned to a Surespin in my cooler and at times, even in my lap but everytime I came close to clipping it on, my resolve would return.  Thank Goodness!

BTW:  The other guy in a yellow kayak has been a fishing buddy of mine for over 30 years. It's taken me about 6 years to get him excited about kayak fishing.  Now, he's just another casualty of the addiction.

Doesn't bother me Mark, a friend of mine is retired fish hatchery and explained why the hatchery fish are way smaller then the natives, manager error long ago!

All of the fish caught by me and others in the boat were all caught on spinners or kwikfish.  We trolled herring on Friday and never got a bite.  We switched to spinners and it was game on!  We tied up to some pilings around lunch time and switched to kwikfish and got 2 more.
