It appears that there's a growing proliferation of NWKA Hobie Adventure Islands and Tandem Islands. If you've got one or plan to get one any time soon please reply to this post your name, location and brief description of your Island. It would be fun to plan some meetups on the water to sail and fish together.

f there are enough of us maybe we can get our own Forum Topic so we can swap rigging and transport tips.

I'll get it started:

IslandHoppa - Camas, WA - 2011 Dune Tandem Island hauled on Harbor Freight Custom Trailer.

Chris, North Bend OR. 2016 Dune Adventure Island (coming soon).
I plan on extending my range to target salmon and halibut in 2016. I'm stoked to learn how to operate this new boat. I look forward to getting further off shore and out of my comfort zone.

Oh yeah, been a dream of mine to sail from Beacon Rock to Astoria in my tandem island, it would be even better if it was a fleet camping and fishing.

I have a PA14 with a sail and just picked up a TI this year at the Boat Show in Jan. so my family and kids can join me. I have hooked up with PB during the summer and in his AI in the Sound.  I have sailed it and caught our limits of fish with co-worker right out of Mukilteo within two hours.  I use to windsurf in the 80's and haven't done that for over 20 years.

This TI sailing thing is new learning grounds and plan to sail this winter when the wind gets gusty, but in a small lake like Lake Ballinger which is big enough to have a small island in the middle of the lake to practice sailing around during small craft warnings to get some speed and small/safe enough to swim and beach the TI in some ones beach property.

No gas power boats on the lake so no wakes.  I rescued a older guy from my PA last summer when he was in a 12 ft. aluminum boat trolling in an electric motor.   I was next to him when he sank and still don't know how he did it.  It could have been he and the battery plus equipment was on one corner of the boat and it all shifted and it sank from the corner of the stern.  I had him hang on to my kayak and towed him to his floating life jacket in the water.

He was complaining about his heart problem which got me worried so I called the Medics to meet us at the boat ramp/pier.  He was lucky it was summer and the water was not cold.  Note to self that day - always wear a PFD and dry suit when sailing in could water.  Looking forward to learning or just hooking up for some group sailing or TI/AI fishing.

I have a 2011 yellow AI and a revo. I live on Vancouver Island, just west of Victoria, fishing for salmon and halibut and the occasional turkey  :D in Juan deFuca Strait. I have good luck with salmon but have yet to catch a halibut from the yak. Insayn  has recently been giving me tips on how to improve my gear storage. I use a 10ft snow bear trailer to haul the yaks  which I have yet to customize. I also use the rack on my truck when I'm only using the AI.

A road trip to Canada would be a good excuse for an Island retreat!

Canada requires passports, but the exchange rate is really good.  Just came back from Vancouver BC.  How about the San Juan Islands?

Good middle ground. Need a local expert to advise on tides and fishing spots. ;-)

I am tandem island-curious and would enjoy being included on any invites. I have some access to a tandem island, so I could potentially join up on an outing.

Thanks!
