... And we have our first AOTY 2016 sponsor! AOTY participant Yaktastic is donating some of his can't-miss homemade lures.

Thank you, Yaktastic!
Sweet! I like the idea of being able to win some NWKA made gear!

Well then, you're in luck, because AOTY participant Ling ling, Herro? is donating some rod leashes. Thank you, Ling!

I'm happy to help out. Here is the build for those rod leashes. I'm going to make a 4 pack to donate to AOTY. They will be a slightly improved version of the leash in the link below:

As a new member of NWKA and still learning all the variations of fish and fishing from kayaks, I'll jump into 2016 AOTY regardless.  HOW is a great idea and I'll contribute where I can, knowing my biggest obstacle is *time* (I travel a lot for work and have a family).

No doubt I'll spend the next year(s) sorting out how to gear up for finding fish, how to find fish, how to catch fish, how to measure fish  ::), how to post pictures of fish, and how to stay safe doing all this fishing.

Best way to figure out anything is to just get busy doing it, and not mind looking foolish along the way.

2015 Jackson Big Tuna (tandem) (dark forest)
2016 Hobie Outback LE (screamin' orange)
2014 KC Kayaks K12 (the better half's, in camo)
2015 Jackson Kraken 13.5 (bluefin)

Raymarine Dragonfly; BB Angler Aces; Kokatat Hydrus 3L SuperNova Angler Dry Suit; Stohlquist Fisherman PFD

Glad to hear you're in, Dark Tuna!

We have our 3rd sponsor lined up: local favorite Lancer Jigs will be putting together a prize package. I can't wait to see what they send over - those lures are money in the salt (and lots of other places too).

+1 on Lancer Jigs... Dino caught a beautiful King Salmon on one out at Hobuck while jigging for Ling Cod.  Those things catch everything that swims.
My body thinks my brain's gone crazy.

Would there be any interest in an AOTY Facebook page? Since a lot of people check their FB frequently it might be a fun place to post your latest catch or chat about what you're up to for AOTY.

I'm not suggesting we replace any of the forum functionality or that you'd be able to post your fish on FB and have them end up on the leaderboard, I'm just suggesting a community-type page.

I think that's a great idea. Facebook is an easy way to advertise and create buzz for the tournament.

We actually already have an AOTY page, but it was turned off awhile ago.  I just turned it back on.

At one point (2010), I even was able to post new entries to the page automatically.

Lauren, I added you to the existing NWKA AOTY Facebook page as an editor.  Have at it.

I'll check the settings..  it might just be that it will take awhile to be re-indexed by facebook.  Until then here is the direct link..

Yeah too many points for rainbow trout. I mean what a 24.5 inch bow is as much or more than a 30 inch steelie. Yeah I'm guilty of getting dough-eaters from the kiddie pond for points but there's definitely something wrong here.

I get what you're saying, but it's funny because from my perspective it's really hard to get a decent scoring trout. I caught a 16" one this year that was my biggest Oregon trout so far, and then realized how few points it was.

I think the problem is there are large trout and small trout and not a lot in the middle, maybe?
