As Craig pointed out time is running out for 3 jigs per team member. Captainredbeard will be our lead judge and he has a slew of category ideas to choose from and it will be up to our 5 judges (if we can get 4 more volunteers) to decide how and categories for the judging. If not the pressure will be on the captain to decide all on his own but with only bragging rights and the amount of fun we have already had it will easy.

I would be happy to be an unbiased judge if you are looking for a volunteer. I have enjoyed watching this thread!

Damn. I need to get in on this. I have been out of town for most of 2016 so far. Lucky for me, February has an extra day this year. Does it have to be from my garage? I am thinking of a hook on a flashbang pin (flashbang wrapped in pencil lead for "weight"), ling pulls pin, wait a minute or two and see what floats up.  ;D
Pull induced dynamite fishing  :notworthy: now that's thinking out side the box.

I am an "ideas" guy and have been told 1 out of every 100 is good. You just need to wade through those other 99.

But if the Captain is the only judge, it makes it easy to figure out who voted against us. >:D

Well..... I've been a slacker putting anything together. Would be happy to judge some of these awesome jigs.
Bottom line will be if the fish will hit 'em. Haystack  might be a good proving ground. Right after TMBMD II. would be good.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Absolutely no objection from me on you judging the jigs and I don't think INSAYN would object.

Well here is my first entry I guess...I hope this is the right spot to put it....my jig is comprised of 2 peices fuel hose, shrink tube, stainless Bimini clip retainer, and  .060 wire feed wire...there is also a couple little lock washers in the shrink tube to hold the hook.

Awesome!  Thanks to all you guys that volunteered to judge our messes.

This is certainly a fun new twist to NWKA family of challenges.   Making goofy lures from junk is only part of the battle.  Getting them to attract and stick a fish before attracting a rock will be yet another part of the overall challenge.

Hopefully we'll find a day where we can all get out on the water at the same time to put them to work.  :headbang:

For those that are still on the fence on making a set of jigs and joining us, you still have a few days left to to make your's and join a team.  Get to it!   :whip2:

"Junk Jig Justice Council" - I like that! I'm getting a pretty good laugh going back through this thread. We have some awesome entries!

I'm honored to MC the judging of these fine, and sometimes bewildering, contraptions. I agree with the sentiments above that in the end, "only God can judge", or in this case, "only Lingcod can judge", so we definitely must follow up this phase with on-the-water accounts of how these things work out. But for now, build away, and prepare TO BE JUDGED.

OK, I will judge.  By not making the lures I had in mind, I will stay out of trouble with the ATF.

Awesome!! I haven't had a chance to read the entire thread, but I have looked at all the pics, and I think most will prove effective on the water....PC after TBMD would be sweet!

I will have to make mention that Blue and I won't be available for the on the water part of the Junk Jig challenge mid May, and I personally won't be available most of May and the first week or two of June.

With my mom's current "wait and see" cancer treatment/next step strategy goes through April. At that point she may be in for another couple rounds of chemo.  So, I am booked for driving my dad to a couple of multi day camping trips as he can't see well enough to drive long distances, and mom will be staying home with some of her very supportive friends.

Dad has been a real trooper keeping my mom's needs in check over the last 7 months, and actually burned himself out in doing so.  At 73 with diabetes, he recently broke down with a nasty leg infection (currently back to walking normal as of today when I saw him).  I owe him the trips to his favorite annual camping trips that my mom normally drives him to, and ironically they fall right in between all of my annual trips.   May is going to be a tight month for me between work and travel, but well worth it!

Hopefully we'll see a good weather/swell window at PC or Depoe in April so we can play this game!   8)

For my second entry I give you my Chair-ished lure.  I started with a double hook and added pencil lead for weight.  To get more of a jig type hook, I wired in a cabinet latch.  The body and tail are made from lawn chair webbing then wrapped with copper wire.

The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.
