I just want to let everyone know that the judges are hard at work! Several of us have been out of commission for various reasons, but the Junk Jig Justice League is back in action, and judging hard!

Updates soon...
No rush we know you'll make it happen cap'n remember it's all for fun

I take no credit for getting things moving.

Just want to wrap this up.

All of the entries have been awesome, and deciding which are the most creative isn't easy. Bear  with the judges as we wrap this up. It'll happen pretty soon.

A big Thank You to all that took he time and effort to put a "junk jig " together. You guys did some very cool stuff.

Now the real test will be how well they catch fish. That's gonna be fun too.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I think we might actually be having more fun judging than you guys had making them. I just got another good laugh... the judges are hilarious.

If beer or coffee is launched via the nostrils, then creating something odd and unique was certainly worth it.   :headbang:

Awesome guys! I hope I can be there to witness the real test! If not I still have my jigs here in idaho so I will have to send them to shannon or somewhere. One of you judges pm me and let me know what I need to do with them if needed. If not I will be out to Tillamook on the 20th

Between spring break and spring allergies I’m late again… what’s new? I may not deliver on time, but I’m cheap!

But the time has come. The judges have held council. The votes have been tallied. Sort of. Judges, please don’t feel slighted if I left out or adjusted anything; collating 4 separate lists was a bit more work than I expected. Each judge had great input and help in the process and everyone had a good time. I tried to include some anonymous judging comments where they seemed humorous or noteworthy.

If your jig ended up more in the jeer pile than the cheer pile, just know that we mean it all in good fun and we sincerely appreciate all of the effort everyone put into this challenge. We all expect many of these contraptions to actually catch fish.

With all that said…

HERE ARE YOUR 2016 JUNK JIG AWARDS

CATEGORY 1 - NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE!

1st - dawg/duck13 - Easter Surprise

2nd - surforegon 2 - Scrimshaw and Hair

Judges’ notes:
“I like this one but it creeps me out somehow. Not as bad as the Barbie nightmare squid mermaid.”

CATEGORY 2 - MOST LIKELY TO MAKE SOMEONE AT THE DOCK MAD WHEN THEY SEE WHAT YOU CAUGHT YOUR MONSTER LING ON

1st - Fungunnin 1 - Deep Impact Chain and Glove

Judges’ notes:
“The weight may break the line before the fish gets to the boat!”
“He’s going to go out and catch some ridiculous fish on this and really piss someone off that spent $15 on a fancy jig.”

2nd - Dark Tuna 2 - Pressure Cooker Triple Threat

Judges’ notes:
“It would be pretty cool to get three fish on that thing haha.”
“I honestly think this could be the best at catching fish or completely unfishable, I don’t know.”
“Favorite.”

3rd - Mojo Jojo 3 - The Golden Angel of Death

Judges’ notes:
“Which kid did he steal that trophy from? This one would probably spin well underwater with those wings.  It would look like a missile under water - LOL.”

CATEGORY 3 - IT’S NOT A DRINKING PROBLEM IF YOU’RE BEING CREATIVE

1st - hdpwipmonkey 1 - The Drunken Bastard

Judges’ notes:
“This would probably rattle well too.”
“Should we just call it self-titled?” (I keed! I joke!)

2nd - bluewrx02 3 - Wine and Lead

Judges’ notes:
“I think this could be up with most likely to catch fish.  The glove may imitate a squid in a way.”

3rd - INSAYN 3 - The Can Tab Tragedy

Judges’ notes:
“Those look like busch gold tops haha.”

CATEGORY 4 - MOST LIKELY TO BE USED AS EVIDENCE IN COURT

1st - INSAYN 1 - Cthulhu Barbie

Judges’ notes:
(This entry was quite the contender in several categories, well done!)
“The creepiest thing I have seen on a hook (did he use spray tan on that Barbie?).”

2nd - surforegon 1 - The Bone and Human Hair DNA Special

Judges’ notes:
“I was impressed with this, however, his deer bone one looked like it could catch some fish.”
“This reminds me of something a serial killer would have in their house. In a good way.”

3rd - DarkTuna 3 - Shotgun Wedding Streamer

CATEGORY 5 - BEST USE OF CAR PARTS

1st - Mojo Jojo 2 - Lingow Crankin’ Jig

2nd - smokeyangler 3 - Keylinga

CATEGORY 6 - MOST LIKELY TO ACTUALLY CATCH FISH

1st - nobaddays 1 - Moptapus

Judges’ notes:
(This was another popular entry.)

2nd - yaktastic 2 - Pink and Shiny

Judges’ notes:
“Those ball bearings look pretty cool, a fish might like that if it had a hook.  I bet it would have some movement with that curve.”
“I wonder if it’s going to rust in the first 5 minutes.”

3rd - smokeyangler 1 - Pinkzilla

Honorable Mention - bluewrx02 - Simple Green

CATEGORY 7 - MOST LIKELY TO CAUSE HEARING DAMAGE
1st - Pinstriper 1 - Nut Plug

Judges notes:
“Agreed, this should come with a warning tag attached (which may help catch some fish!).”

CATEGORY 8 - BEST USE OF ACTUAL JUNK
1st - RoxnDox 1 - Minion Madness

Judges’ notes:
“That tape should have been a prized possession and not junk. That will be a collectors item in 30 years!”
“There sure is a lot of junk in there.”

2nd - smokeyangler 2 - Carablinger

Judges’ notes:
“Is that aluminum foil?  Most likely to get lost at the bottom of the ocean as well.”

3rd - MonkeyFist 1 - Disco Zip Ties

Honorable Mention - INSAYN - Wrench Revenge

CATEGORY 9 - BEST USE OF A LIGHTER TO SHOW SCALE

1st - smilinkayaker 1 - Pad Eye for the Rockfish Guy

2nd - smilinkayaker 2 - I don’t even…

CATEGORY 10 - MOST LIKELY TO IMMEDIATELY FOUL YOUR LINE

1st - Mojo Jojo 1 - Foul Hooked

2nd - smilinkayaker 3 - Blue Bands

3rd - Dark Tuna 1 - Toilet Chain Terror

And now comes the most fun part of the competition - bragging rights! I truly wish we had plaques of some kind to hand out, that would be hilarious. Apologies if we left anyone out - it was not our intent.

I did not keep track of who was on what team, so I will leave it to the respective teams to tally the placements and loudly proclaim victory or shrink away silently in defeat.

Junk Jig Justice Council, signing off...

That was hilarious!  The best kind of judging is the unexpected approach.

Now we just need to see if they'll fish or just cause injury.  :o

3. I like them all and congrats to all that participated I know I had fun.
D. Can't wait to hit the water just need to iron out a day most can make it, also set up some rules so the guys at a distance can fish there's....... Like maybe must have one eye witness and photo or video evidence when fished as well as no other tackle on your yak till you fished all your jigs?
