I'm paid up, waiver will be sent off tomorrow  ;D I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. I'll be fishing Friday if anyone wants to meet up.

I'm like 50/50 for hanging around for this and if I do I'm fishing Friday. I'll obviously want to hone my tourney strategy, which is to follow you around like an 8th grade crush, so you'll probably see me stalking you and sharing 5 year old pictures of you with random strangers.

Really looking forward to this event and meeting some of you guys. I will be the chubby somewhat confused looking guy in the Dune Outback... Not sure where I will be launching and fishing yet... Still to be determined I suppose.

Unlike every other event I've done, apparently NA isn't accepting emailed/faxed/scanned copies of their waivers, according to CJ and the event's website.

I, and a few others, are driving down from Seattle to participate in this event. We decided yesterday that we're definitely in. I heard from CJ on FB that only physical copies would be accepted, but I'm a little wary of them actually receiving them in time if I mail them today.

Looking at the event's website, it states that waivers will be accepted the day of the event. I just called NA and asked them if I could bring the waivers in at weigh-in (since we won't have time beforehand to drop them by). He (someone in the paddlesports center - i don't remember his name) said he wasn't sure if that would be accepted, but that not doing so would mean we wouldn't be raffle entrants - a big bummer.

His alternate suggestion was - get this - emailing me waivers that I could e-sign and email back. I stated that CJ - and the website - stated that no emailed copies would be accepted, but he said that was fine.

So....wtf? Get your ducks in a row, NA. This ain't rocket science. You've got folks eager to dish out cash, make a 3hr+ drive down to participate in your event. Just make it easy for us to do so.

Ya know, CJ is pretty active on the forum. You could just ask him.

I did. He was the first person I asked, as stated in my post.

So he gave you an answer.  Then you wanted to the ask if you could drop the waiver off after the tournament. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the waiver?

Well, at first CJ told me they'd have to be snail-mailed in. But I'd rather not trust USPS to get the waivers there in time.

Inspired by that potential timing issue, I called NA this morning to inquire about whether it'd be ok to turn the waivers in at weigh-in (since I can't get there prior to Saturday). They said they weren't positive if that was ok, that I probably do so, though it'd disqualify me for the raffle. Yes, I know the timing on that would be wonky, but I'd rather not spend Saturday morning driving over to NA and dropping the waivers off, instead of launching @ sunrise.

They did, however, say that it'd be ok after all if I emailed copies to them, and said not to heed CJ's earlier statement about "no e-mailed copies allowed."

It's one part case-of-the-mondays, one-part frustration that I'm getting different answers from different folks @ NA.

What kind of busted ass mail system is there that couldn't get mail < 200 miles in 5 days?  It's like 98% to get there. Mail two of them and you're like 99.7% that one of them gets there.

This is dumb.

i'm impressed you've had nothing but fantastic service, quick delivery times, and zero lost packages with USPS. i'm sad to say that's not been my experience.

My profession is dumb and still relies on the USPS for communication. I probably mail 4-5 items a day 5 days a week. I can count the number of times I get lost or misdirected mail each year on two hands. It works. Just drop it in the mail. Do it now. Stamps are cheap. You can get 100 of them for less than $50.

Yes, mail is dumb. But that isn't because it doesn't work, it's because there are 5,196 better ways to get communications from point A to point B faster cheaper and more reliable. But it isn't a hill to die on. Just mail it and move on. CJ and NA get their balls busted enough over stupid crap, the shop is awesome and just because there could be some marginal improvements doesn't mean that it's busting time again. give it a rest.

i wouldn't characterize the post as finding a "hill to die on," but raising one of those "marginal improvements" that could/should be made to make the event enrollment process smoother. it's not a declaration of war.
