WOW!! Been out of pocket for a couple of weeks and I come back to a lot of great ideas. Here are some details to some of your inquiries and assumptions.

1. The RV is +/- 11'6" from the road surface to the top of the AC units (highest point). It's in storage in Tacoma and I'm in AK, so I can't get any more specific measurements than what I got while I was down there. I'd say the hitch receiver is about 1' above the ground. If I were to go vertical or diagonal off the back I'd still have roughly 3' of kayak sticking up above the AC units.

2. I called Yakima. The longest spreader bars they have are 88". The RV roof is 8' (96") wide.

3. I don't have room in a driver's side compartment. I meant to say that on top of the roof on the driver's side, closer to the front is mostly clear of obstructions and would (I think) be the ideal place to mount it if I can find a mounting solution. My thought is to lean the kayak against the RV, climb the ladder, then pull the kayak up. It's light enough when empty that I can lift and carry it to whatever rack we come up with and set it down.

4. With a little ship-in-a-bottle ingenuity, I was able to push the kayak through the rear window. the stern is currently sitting on the dining table and the bow is resting on the driver's seat. (see pic). Getting it in without damaging the window frame or walls was a feat I don't want to attempt often.

5. RVs, even models within the same manufacturer, don't have any uniformity to placement of roof support beams. I would venture to believe that you are correct; the AC units would be bolted to solid support members. I question how well the support members would support another 110# of boat.

6. I planned on using marine goop on any holes. Not much aware of anything better for the application.

7. The only other thought I have is figuring out some bracket to bolt to the sides of the outside roof supports and span bars across the width of the RV. Just need to resource the materials and the know-how.

MoJo, I'd kindly take you up on your offer. I'm flying back down on 5 May and as it stands I don't need to start heading back north til the 15th. I've got a drysuit waiting for me at REI in Tacoma. Just need to pick up a PFD and well, everything to outfit the tub toy. I pay well in good beer and good company.  :occasion14:

if you took it with the cell phone upright it posts sideways take them with the phone on its side took me a bit to figure that one out. Or crop the picture just a hair. That might or might not work. I'm about 8-10 hours from Seattle area depending on your skills and traffic, also live in an Rv park lucky for you if you want to come down and plot something out and get-r-done. Buy a couple of tubes of Dicor it's what the manufacturer uses and make sure it's self leveling.
