I'm looking at purchasing a dry suit for year round fishing. I'm 5'10" and about 225. Trying to stay on the cheap side if possible  (under $400). Any suggestions for brand or retailer? Anybody with a used one that would fit that they're trying to unload?

Thanks in advance, Aaron

check ebay.  That's where I got mine - a sailing drysuit used once in essentially new condition.  I suggested another friend buy from ebay and he bought a Goretex knockoff with goretex booties - not name brand, but works great.

Keep an eye on Craigslist.  I found a Kokatat Goretex Meridian in excellent shape about 2 months ago that was listed by Kayak Shed for $400.

+1  Wanted one but they were out of stock in my size for too long.  I've seen one in use and they are a great bargain.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Hi Aaron, I just purchased a Stohlquist EZ from Austin Kayak for $340 shipped. The suit seems very high quality, and I'm happy with my purchase. There are no pockets, but that's what my pfd is for. They sell them for $399, but you can do a quick internet search for 15% off. Good luck on your purchase!

i bought a kokatat hydrus 3l angler suit as a spare that i don`t really need. kokatat brand (probably 90% here wear) extra large,  i`d let it go for 400.00 firm.  new condition, never worn. its like it just came off the showroom floor. i`m 5`8 180lbs. little big for me, u i think perfect. go to ur dealer try one on then get hold of me. save u couple hundred. yellow up top gray/black below with relief zipper.

How hot does it get when you're in the sun?  Seems like a black suit would heat up in direct sunlight.  Looks like a good value on a drysuit.

I've only had it out once in direct sunlight and about 80 degree temp, and I didn't find it too hot. The suit is surprisingly comfortable, and seems like it will hold up well.

I also purchased the same dry suit for 340$ shipped to door. I've been out 3 times and the weather was in the 80s each time. The suit keeps you warm but won't overheat you, just don't wear tons of layers underneath. Last time I went out I was sweating pretty good but that's more likely from the 6 mile round trip in 6ft swells. Great suit and even better price!

On those stohlquist dry suits are the neck gasket latex? I keep seeing different answers some say neo some say latex.

I was told that it is neoprene covered latex on the neck and wrist gaskets in my Stohlquist EZ.
