Thinking about heading to wg sat depends on forecast any one going to be in that area how's the fishing been. If forecast change  I might end up fishing out of Seward or trying the shrimp pot out in whitter sorry for the spelling

I'm going to Whittier Saturday. I wanted to fish whiskey gulch,  but it is a long drive on with a marginal forecast.

Rock fish are plentiful in Whittier,  halibut should be there by now.  Just be prepared to crank a lot, it is deep water.

For Whittier what set up you have for rock fish and halibut and where I use buzz bomb with a herring. When you say deep how deep like 200 feet or much deeper

I try to fish 150 or less, but often times the fish are in 300'+ . I usually fish a spreader bar with 24oz or 32oz weight or a have built some custom jigs based off the Kodiak design that are 26oz.  Typically I use squid for bait so it stays on the hook through the small fish chewing.

I may drive down in the morning and check it out. If wg sucks then will check homer. If that sucks I'll just go fly fish the kasilof.

thx Dan!  Saturday was good...for quantity. I bet I landed 20 butts....too bad they were all 10 pounders. kept one and was getting blown by the launch. I had switched over to salmon gear and like an idiot hooked the largest of the day, a 20 pounder on my salmon gear that caused me to beach a half mile from launch. thankfully I bought a truck. Lol.
