And this is what I'm bringing tomorrow after work.
It says 330lb capacity and hoping it'll last at least one day of use.  There was 700lb scale but that was twice as expensive.  So I was thinking we can use screw hook to attach to 2x4 or tall tree.

Not that it really matters to me clear down here but what's the weight rating of that screw in hook?? I'm guessing not as much as the scale as I used thoes before in my shop.  :o

If we can pick up 3 2X4's (I'll pay if someone brings them) Lash them together at the top, build a tripod, then we can tie it off to the lashing.

So now that we have the scale, here is my call if we can get the scale set up:

We measure everything by length.  IF the scale survives all contenders, we will go by weight.  So that means ALL fish must be measured for length. 4 out of top 5 anglers with fish need to agree the order displayed (not necessarily the exact weight is accurate.), the we will go by weight.  I just have seen too many of those scales fail.  But generally speaking they fail after some exposure to saltwater.

I agree with Mak that weight is a better indicator of the "big' fish and so we will try this out.  Thanks Mak!!!!!

No problem.  I got this...2x4s, some power tools and screws, we'll have a weighing station.

I don't think you need power tools though it would hep.  Just rope to lash the tops together has worked for us in hanging things before.

Heading down today.  Likely won't fish though since work may cause me to get a late start.   I think better to get a early start.  Winds will pick up in the forecast saturday night according to forecast.

I would highly encourage everyone to buddy up with at least one person when going fishing, especially if you're searching for the big 'butts far offshore.

Let's make this an awesome-but-safe trip for everyone.

Speaking of safety,  do we want to designate a channel to communicate on for tomorrow?
