Continue calling the authorities.  I'll try and research whose jurisdiction it is and see if I can't get some action out of them.

Department of Natural Resources. I'm not sure if this issue at WG would fall under the Division of Land & Water or Parks & Outdoor Recreation.  Probably Land & Water because WG seems to be just a state shoreline easement, not any type of park or recreation area.

I talked with Trooper Stuart today. He is going to look into the issue. If anyone has more info or pictures, we need to post and call.

Just so everyone knows, I am meeting with some folks that drove up in a school bus.  They seem legit.  I recall someone saying something about a school bus being down there...there maybe two with one legit.  I'll post more when I talk with them.

Thanks.  I have avoided WG to avert any blood-pressure raising incidents.  It would be good to get this resolved (and by resolved, get them the hell out!)

Here is what I got back from the troopers. Basically we need to get Fish and Game involved, does anyone have the brown shirt's contact info?

Greetings Ron,
I’ve conferred with the Wildlife Trooper as well as a few other Troopers. At the present time, it does not appear that the individuals camped at the beach access  have committed a crime. The property at the base of the Whiskey Gulch Beach Access (turn left at the bottom) belongs to Fish & Game. If they want these people removed or trespassed, they have the means and authority to do so. The property to the right is private property; if they want someone removed, the owner, or property manager needs to contact myself or another Trooper.

I will add that the “Reserved” signs on Fish & Game’s property are completely null and have no authority, unless placed by Fish & Game or authorized via permit, written consent, etc. While their placement is not a crime, neither is you or someone else moving the sign and using that space as long as it’s unoccupied. However, I would caution you and any others you share this email with or confer with that a confrontation resulting from a dispute over these signs could potentially be criminal (depending on actions taken by the parties involved).

If Fish & Games contacts me and asks for these squatters to be removed, I will assist them. If Fish & Game takes no action, then I cannot take any action. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you.

Respectfully,

I don't like confrontation and try to avoid them if I can.  What I don't like is when someone ask me to move my vehicle like I'm encroaching on their property.  It's been documented that some of these squatters like to have a "perfect view" to the beach all for themselves.  If this is indeed public land they act like a landowner, I wonder what kind of recourse we can take in a situation like that?

We didn't have any issue Sat or Monday this weekend.  Didn't someone say they dumped their septic tank on the road.  THAT is a crime.

They emptied  their crapper on the way out, I haven't seen those particular people again but I know they are friends with they guys in the back. We talked to the couple in the back and we're able to convince them to have the bus removed. They seem to be a nice couple and have been keeping their area clear. They said they knew nothing of the poop dumping or the trash dumping but we made them aware that it would not be a good idea for them to ever show their faces again at WG.

Me and Big Al went there w/families Friday night.  After an hour or so, one of them began using a chainsaw to cut down trees. A few hours later, a drunken brawl broke out down there that resulted in one of them busting a few bottles against their RV. He then took off down the road going no less than 40mph (no exaggeration). The rest of them took flashlights up and down the road looking for crap that he had thrown out of the car.  I can't say they ever harassed us, but we felt they were a little too "familiar" with our campsites.  Kind of just walking through.  Dogs not on leash (including a pitbull).  They definitely have a permanent setup there now.   I sent a complaint to Fish and Game as well as AST.  No response yet.

cutting down trees is a no no.  that'll get them fined at minimum  .  I haven't witnessed any of that this year.  but good you reported it

Nothing more classy than dumping your crapper in the middle of a camping area.

Hmmm, with that family around will it be safe at WG; especially Pitbull unleash?
We were thinking about going there this weekend.

I can tell you that when they were arguing and then when that one guy got mad and started busting the bottles against the RV, we were uncomfortable and waiting for gunshots to follow.  As far as the pitbull, I'm not willing to get suckered into the "pitbulls aren't dangerous" argument, but it also made us uncomfortable.  Especially when one of the guys (the bottle-thrower) told us that his dog (a german-shephard puppy) isn't dangerous, but the pitbull is.  The girl would walk the dog and drop the leash when she got by our camps and my wife seems to think that this was intentional to try to draw our party's dogs out.  They were in their portable corral.
