Does anybody have any ideas of how to get rid of these people it's not so much that they are squatting it's that they are telling people they are blocking their view and getting trash EVERYWHERE such an awesome place getting wrecked that's the way we lose public places I don't like to be the one to bitch about stuff but it's starting to piss me off

Just let the troopers know about the litter,  that may be enough for them to move on.  But if the squatters interfere with the lawful taking of fish,  they can get in more trouble.

I heard somewhere that you can only be here a max of 2 weeks.

call the troopers. document the litter with photos. better yet, have everyone do it with different photos. they should respond to multiple complaints. make the complaint heavy on illegal stuff like littering and less on the weird part.

Has anyone had any more trouble with the WG squatters? I was thinking about going down for a few days with my wife this week and don't need any additional stress. I am a LEO and don't want to get in the middle of something on my time off especially with my wife around.

Anybody know the Squatter Status?  I'm gonna go pre-fish for the Barbie Tournament this weekend, and I'm curious if everybody's favorite neighbors are still down there.

If they've been there more than two weeks, here's the law they're breaking. They are required to pick up and move at least 2 miles. Anybody know or have proof of how long they have been there?

AS 38, 11AAC 96.020

(A) setting up and using a camp for personal, noncommercial recreational purposes, or for any non-recreational purpose, including as a support camp during mineral exploration, for no more than 14 days at one site, using a tent platform or other temporary structure that can readily be dismantled and removed, or a floathouse that can readily be moved; the entire camp must be moved at least two miles before the end of the 14-day period; a cabin or other permanent improvement is not allowed, even if on skids or another nonpermanent foundation; the camp must be removed immediately if the department determines that it interferes with public access or other public uses or interests;

I got down to WG Thusday morning and Northside of the beach looked like Alaskas 4th largest town 2 buses with tarps over the middle , the compound had various beach Riggs to pull boats out. Newer trucks etc. looks like they have been there awhile but the area was not messy. We parked our trailer next to the barrier on the southend. An old bus was parked where it had been for at least 3 weeks 1 of the camp sites had a don't tread on me flag across the drive, as of Saturday I have not seen any one around to use it. As we were parking our trailer a woman came up to use and said there was a large group coming back to reclaim there area. There was a tent of sorts and a gazebo there, back into the trees. I had a brief discussion with her about how long people could stay in one place and she said that past the circle past the toilet was all DNR land and there is no limit. She said she had been here 30 years and I told her I had prospected in the state for over 30 years and we had to move regularly unless we had a special permit and I said I have about an extra 30 years on hers as a resident. My wife gave me the knock it off sign so I did and conversation ended on a friendly note. The folks never came back to the site We were in. A little cloudy today but not windy.

So the guys with the busses at the north end of the campground have been there since Memorial day weekend, they have kept their area clean and quiet.

Now the people at the south end of the campground are a different story. They tried to completely "reserve" the tree sites since Memorial day weekend.  They left the bus along with a ton of trash and a couch in the spot behind it.  There is an older RV that is usually accompanied by a white Chevy Hummer H3 that tows a crappy wood trailer.  I've seen the trailer show up 2 times full of trash and leave empty both times.  Last weekend the RV was in one of the middle spots and when they left they drained their toilet on the way out in the gravel. 5 of us witnessed this happen and walked over to the spot and confirmed it was human waste all over the ground!

The last 2 times we showed up we had to tear down a "reserved" rope and sign and both times we were mildly harassed for doing so. The individuals reserving the spot stated their friends and family were coming to use the spots and both times know one showed up the whole weekend.

I'm not really sure what we can legally do about this issue but I have began to take pictures of the trash, bus, and squatters camping spots. I guess we can all start calling the Troopers everything we see something illegal going on and eventually they will get kicked out. The dumping of the crap in the middle of the gravel was the last straw for me so if anyone has ideas for a legal course of action count me in
