Does anyone want to fish? I'll probably do some bass fishing in the Willy around Salem while I'm fishing alone, but if anyone is interested in fishing the ocean, or some tidewater springers I'd be stoked to meet up. Maybe drift a coastal river for steelhead. I'm open for ideas, just hoping for someone to fish with. It's unusual that I get time off work during the week

I'm off Thurs-Sat guaranteed.  With the way things have been I could likely do a late start Weds also.
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

I was thinking about doing some kokanee fishing at Green Peter - is that of any interest to meet?  Early morning till noon is probably best when it's so sunny.  I need to check the wind, but thinking maybe Tues or Wed??

My research on Green Peter is to launch from Billings Park and just cruise along the orange floats that are keeping you away from the dam wall, tie up to them and jig for Kokes in 30 feet of water.  I haven't actually been there to test this intel out, but if wind does begin to pick up, you are just minutes from your launch point.

The other species you can target at GP is Chinook.  Not sure where is the best area to do it at is, but use your normal Chinook trolling gear the same way you would in the rivers and if you find one, you don't have to count it on your salmon tag, and the limit on these is part or all of your Kokanee limit.

I am free all week and would be happy to take the kayak out anywhere. I'm more well-versed and successful in bass fishing, but I've been itching to hit the ocean or even float one of the rivers for springers. Too bad walleye fishing is only going off so far away...

Sounds fun! I've never been there. I could probably go Wednesday. I'll PM you my number.

What area do you normally fish for bass? I've been trying like hell to catch a nice smallmouth lately and only been catching ten and 12 inch fish here in the Salem area. I've had better success catching nice bass here different times of the year when the conditions are different, but right now they're kicking my butt.

I'm interested, available Wed morning.  Haven't been to GP in several years and would like to hit it again.  If you go Wed I'd to to tag along.

Dan - we're thinking Wednesday.  Trolling on the Quartzville Arm.  I'll send you a PM.

Saw quite a few trollers out there (Quartzville arm) early Saturday morning. Didn't see a ton of fish caught, but admittedly wasn't paying too close of attention to them. Did mark a few fish in the 50'ish range when crossing the lake a few times.

It was interesting - caught tons of fish, but all were less than 10" did catch a few a bit bigger, but nothing to write home about. Good numbers of fish up in the shallows if you want to throw a crankbait.

I tried cottage grove over the weekend. Couldn't catch a bass to save my life. In my defense no one else seemed to be catching them either. Pretty sure I missed "the spring bite". The crappi were biting everything though, rappalas, spinnerbaits, sinkos. I eventually gave up and put on a crappi jig. There are tons of crappi in there!
