Has anyone looked at or know anything about this cart. It's a cross between a Wheeleez and C Tug cart. The website thefishingkayakstore.com has them. They combine the two and sell it that way. Looks like a really good idea however you would think that if it's really good there would be tons of reviews, but there isn't many that I can find. I don't know if the cost $349 has anything to do with lack of reviews. I sometimes don't care so much about the costs if it does what it supposed to do and makes life easier. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks Dale

I'd assume the cost has everything to do with the lack of reviews on some products, since a genuine WheelEez cart costs a hundred dollars less - and has a warranty.

I don't know if it was here or in the NCKA forum, but there was a discussion about the Mullet Miller cart and conversion kit about a year ago.  You might find it with a site search.

I have 2 C-tugs and I bought the parts from thekayakfishingstore to do the wheeleez mod with 30cm balloon tires. (They are in my garage waiting on me!) I gave a great deal of consideration to make the conversion pieces myself, but figure it was worth the headache. But this is for a conversion....You are looking at buying their whole cart already done... right?

I will say, I absolutely love the C-tug, but hate the wheels. I cant wait to put the wheeleez tires on! In my opinion that is the absolute best kayak cart on the market matching the best cart with the best wheels! I will have more $$ in doing it myself than if I bought the whole cart. The parts are spendy when added up.

Ctug on amazon: $139
30CM wheeleez- $89 x2- $178
Conversion kit- 55
Total $372

Their cart= $349.99

I say yes. Go for it!

I get the idea of putting the two carts together, but don't understand the advantage over a Hobie scupper cart or DIY Hobie style scupper cart?

The C+Tug body folds down and fits in the typical Hobie front hatch, but those 30cm wheels are going to be a tight fit in there as well. Possibly doable, but not sure if it is a better alternative to the scupper cart?

What am missing?

Other brands of kayaks that don't use a scupper cart may be a different story.

INSAYN....

I just went ahead and purchased the Large Wheeleez from REI. I also notice that wheeleez has a extra crossmember your can attach for more support. I have a Outback and I think if I need to I can attach a crossmember to what I just purchase. I was trying to not have to use the scrubber holes if possible. will see after I pick it up.

You can deflate and inflate wheeleeze in a few seconds each if you want to store them in your hull.

Using (installing) a scupper cart with a loaded kayak can be awkward. When your kayak is loaded, you need assistance to lift or tip your kayak over to get the scupper cart in the holes. If you use a cart that has a kickstand, you just lift one end of your kayak (usually the rear) and sidestep left and set it down on the cart. But I could even slip the C-tug with plastic wheels under the kayak while partially in the water at the ramp, strap it on, and pull the kayak out of the water on wheels.

I have a C-Tug and threw away the useless kickstand pretty quickly.
I've thought about putting balloon tires on, looks like a trip to Burcham's Metal in in order.
I'm sure I can do a couple sleeves for less than $55.00

https://www.wheeleez.com/rail-kit

Here is what the Rail Kit for the Wheeleez looks like. I didn't buy this, I think I can build it for less than $30. It appears the Wheeleez carts have predrilled holes for this.

I think this will allow the Outback to have a wider stance on the cart. looking forward to getting this.

There is a write-up at:
http://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/topic/611086-diy-c-tug-wheeleez-retrofit-aka-mullet-miller-cart-conversion/

That shows what is involved in doing it yourself and what you will need for sleeve dimensions etc.

MF- I would be interested in what you come up with for an alternative for a kickstand other than the plastic one on the C-tug. I already broke one off on an exposed root once.

I have two of those Wheeleez carts with the 30cm wheels and agree it is easier to just lift a kayak up and onto the cart, vs trying to shove a Hobie cart under the kayak when fully loaded.

However, I have only actually needed the those big 30cm wheels on very few occasions over the smaller Wheeleez on my PVC Hobie scupper cart. And this is including 7 years of use with my Revo over pretty much all terrain. Super deep soft sand on an incline definitely needs the big wheels.

As for using my PVC scupper cart with the 30cm wheels, I just float my kayak deep enough to get the cart under it with a few extra inches for room to manouver. I take one wheel off so it isn't as buoyant and shove that sucker under and up. It holds itself in place while I attach the other tire. The whole cart can go on the water with me upside down.

I put the kayak on the scupper cart before loading it with gear.  I pull it out in the water. When I get back, I do what Insayn mentioned and put it back in the scuppers while in the water.  I use hard wheels since I mostly launch at ramps, in packed sand, or right next to the water.  However, I did CNC some bushings last night so my Wheeleez tires (20mm diameter hole) will fit on my 12.7mm diameter scupper cart axle. I may have a long trek through soft sand coming in the future. I hope the HDPE will be up to the task as bushings. I have some Delrin, but that stuff is expensive so I was hoping to avoid using it.

Also, If we could find enough folks, (500 people) we could get the Wheeleez direct from the manufacturer in lots of 1000 for less than $30 apiece.  ;D  I just happened to research it last night.

HDPE might wear, but you could always make more.

I've been using PVC as a bushing, and my aluminum axle is wearing faster than the PVC is.
However, it is not that fast.  Over a 7 year period I am still using the same DIY cart with all the same bushings, and axle as the
day I built it.

If you could have machined some UHMW for bushings, that would be the ticket!  It's self lubricating and takes a lot of effort to wear down.

I have a C-Tug and wheeleez beach cart waiting to be Mulleted some day. Haven't got around to doing the conversion yet because the wheeleez cart gets the job done. If I ever plan a trip where I will need to overland the kayak a long distance and want to stuff everything in the front hatch and go, I'll bite the bullet and finish combining the two. All of my current fishing spots are easy walking distance to the truck so I just go stow the beach cart.
