Assuming I can get up and moving early enough I plan to be fishing the south jetty Monday morning around 6-6:30. Plans may change if I get up and it's already windy/too rainy for me. Although I am expecting the rain and will be dressed accordingly, morning me might be thinking a little bit different. Will post a report if I end up going.

Wednesday looks to be a better day if you have time off then.   Monday still looks pretty blustery and not a good day to be on the water.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

My bet is the bay would be fine tomorrow, wet and a little windy but pretty tame for early spring. Closure of access is the only thing that canceled my trip. Nowhere to launch a yak from for the time being

I texted the port manager in Garabaldi Michael Saindon earlier today, he hasn’t responded yet, so I just texted the security officer Mats Johnson to see if the boat ramps and or fish house kayak launch is open. Mats is a great guy but don’t piss him off, please, his response is as follows:

do you know if they are going to block access from parking and walking on barview jetty?  Also, if I so wanted to, i should be able to park and launch outside of port property, say at idaho pt?  I have a buddy who wants me to take him to the jetty on Wednesday, and me and my father wanted to launch the yaks on thurs.....The Pacific Ocean is MY grocery store.....  :)

That’s exactly why I reached out after the “piece” we got in office of the state made her statement. I’ll follow up up on Monday but the Tillamook county commissioners office is what we’re looking at right now. I’ll post up as soon as I get a better answer but know guys want to get fish in the freezer.

People want to get fish in the freezer?  Too bad.  Stay near home to fish.

The entire coast of Oregon is rural.  There are limited health care facilities.  The average age of residents along the coast is 58, and in most towns, the average age is 60+.  Your wish to fish doesn't outweigh our wish to not get sick and to stay alive.

The situation on the coast is so bad that Mayor's are threatening to close the towns, and some have already closed the parks, the jetties, and the beaches.  Tillamook/Garabaldi is one of those towns.

"You can continue normal recreational activities" doesn't mean you should still drive across the State to a small town to go fishing, potentially spreading a disease to an area ill equipped to respond to it.

Stay home to fish or put it off until the COVID-19 pandemic settles.  It's not too much to ask.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Driving 95 miles, is not across the state, and I consider that close to home. Me parking, launching my yak, and fishing in the bay would put me not within 50 ft of another person (like every time I go). I'm not stopping at any stores for any supplies. Those who are vulnerable, or have vulnerable relatives on the coast, stay at home. How in the world would that scenario affect a single person's health or safety? Answer, it wouldn't.

I think it's the correct decision to shut it all down as there were way too many people crowded on the coast over the last couple days. It would be nice to be able to fish where I live though. I'm hoping for a little bit of access to open back up after spring break (at least to locals) but we will see what happens.

Well aren't you just entitled?  Listen to the mayors.  They don't want you there right now, you're not welcome anywhere along the coast right now.  Stay home and don't be a dick about it.

Entitled? Wth? It's a stupid over reaching order and when applied to most situations, does absolutley nothing. It's like saying car wrecks are a problem, therefore, were banning motor vehicles. See, solves the problem of MVAs...and gets rid of the pesky freedom problem. Big government is just loving this.  I'm all for measures that make sense. Over reacting and infringing on people's rights, where it won't make a lick  of difference, and all the sheeple thinking it's a great idea makes me sick to my stomach. Not the way society should work in a free country. I personally like my neck sans Jack boot.....but hey, that's me🙄

Let’s not get out of hand boys!
Talked to Mike today, dock is closed by the county, Sherriff WILL enforce those county code. Comerciall fishing are allowed access to there boats and may go out. Not sure what all is Involved but looking at the county statement you can’t park in the county right of way either. So I guess it’s fish at your own risk of violating the ordinance.

Top that slice of pie off with the fact that Clatsop county confirmed its first case of the Kung Flu! The bitch about this is they narrowed the area of that female to “North end of the County” and placed her age between 35-54, they will not tell us anything about her health conditions not to mention how she may have came in contact with it. So if you been anywhere in that 100 mile radius or so and been in contact with a woman fitting that extremely vague range, or one of the other 500+ people she’s been in contact with....... you might have contracted it.

Mojo, please call the viral infection by its name, COVID-19, instead of the stupid attempts at humor that others (including POTUS, unfortunately) have made up. Using the other names not only helps to inflame tensions with Asians who have had absolutely nothing to do with it, but it diminishes the seriousness of this virus.  It is NOT a variety of flu, it is something new and we all need to not make a joke of the situation.  Please.
