I am buying a new yak for fishing and my current yak will become the family yak. Is it possible to remove a Marine Goop-ed transducer from the hull of a kayak with out ruining either kayak or transducer ??? If so what is the best method? Thanks for any help.

Shouldn't be a problem. Goop is pretty soft and you should be able to slide a razor knife under it and peel off the goop. Just don't yank it by the cable.

Yep, my abalone iron works great for this job.  A paint scrapper, wide screw driver, etc.. also works.  Once you have it off you should be able to peel any access goop off the transducer (a pair of pliers sometimes helps.).

If any of it is really stubborn a hairdryer will coax it off. I really recommend the pool noodle goop water method.

Yep, that's how I did mine but with one of the foam rectangles they sell as a rooftop carrier pad for yaks.

Hey Z,

So you glued down the pool noodle, filled the hole with water, and stuffed the transducer into it?

Exactement. Mount your FF so that it can be taken off easily, mount a pool noodle to the inside of all your yaks and you can move it to whichever yak you want to use. Cest' magnifique!! :glasses3:

You can also use some closed cell foam cut to shape and gooped to the inside of the hull.
