Could someone in your group take some "launch",  "in water", and "return to land/huli" pics for us Northern folks?

where are you talkin about? Sunset?

Launching at simpsons would be like a cartoon..

Must be nice launching from a kiddie pool!   ::)

I'm not sure CBY has ever "launched his kayak".  Really you can't claim that until you've done a nice steep shore break launch. I think even the folks that made the Pacific City tournament last year have more launching experience.

I know this is not quite what you are looking for but it is all I have right now. I will have my wife take some huli pictures next time I go out kayak surfing.  ;D

This one is me heading back out after surfing in a wave on one of sunset's bigger days. (big for sunset = small for a normal open beach)
Enjoy the ride!

Where's the wave?  I mean, that's just your bow wake, right?

Thats right all bow wake. It was only about 5 foot swell that day. Last time I went out it was 20 to 23 foot swell. Why don't you join me next time.
Enjoy the ride!

If this is where I think it is, I've fished the rocky point at simpsons beach. It's well protected; caught blacks & greenling. You can check it out looking south from simpsons overlook. shorter haul than south cove but still not easy

You guys are lucky to have such a soft launch.. I am a little jealous (just a little).  Half the fun for me is the surf launch, that touch of fear and apprehension that creeps in as you paddle into that first set of breakers.   Is there a reef etc that you have to paddle past to get into the ocean proper?

This post is getting good. North vs. South coast. So all you north coasters are say that us south coasters are a bunch of weenies??? We have some spots where it can be a rough surf launch. I say we are just lucky!!!!!!  It may not be big surf but we get big swells and chop. Ask CBY and Merlin about how big sunset can get.
PADDLE TO THE PEOPLE!
