Howdy all,

I was wondering what people's suggestions are for taking a leak while out on the water.  Assuming you are wearing a drysuit with a relief zipper, and the coffee and bottle of water you had before launching has caught up with you.

Kneel on the boat and try and aim over the side, while not falling off?  condom catheter, with tube routed over side?  Hold it till your eyeballs are swimming?

I have no idea, as I have been fortunate enough to make it 4-5 hours on the water and not need to pee. I think it has to do with how much fleece I wear under my waders/drytop combo.   I sweat it out, and then drink more.  Seems that even after I hit land, I am not soaked to the bone.  Must be wicking and evaporating nicely through the fabric.

Oh, and I don't drink coffee right before I hit the launch.  I drink coffee on the way to the beach (1.5 hr drive) and pee really good before I hit the water.

Yep,
either that or go for the central heating. :-[

I kicked that idea around a while back. I actually collected the parts, but (yet again) I could not find one of those round tuits. Fishing in shorts kinda kills my motivation though. I'm also leary of poking a hole in my perfectly good wader's.

I do not have a full drysuit, but a dry top with a double chimney closure system and a pair of splash pants with fleece underneath. I usually kneel and aim for a scupper hole infront of me, then rinse liberally.  :pottytrain3:

This is do-able on an X-factor... can't provide a lot of advise on the more tippy boats.

Not to be tacky but, with a relief zip, I just unzip, STAY SEATED ,unless you are very agile, I have tried the kneel thing and it is a good way to fall in especially if you have been out a while and are a little stoved up, and whip it out and aim for a scupper hole ;)

Whipping it out is one thing if you have the hardware.  What the heck do the girlies do?  :dontknow:

I'm just thinking ahead for my wife.  She wants to give it go once we get her a good dry top.  She's got the thermals, waders, a kayak, fishing pole and nice PFD.  Just need the dry top.   ;)

One idea I have had for both male and female is a large syringe.  Something around 50ml.  Pull out the plunger, perhaps snip the needle port back a bit to enlarge the exit hole.  A tube can be attached.  Men just insert, women can press it tight.  Just a thought I might experiment with in the shower.  Still need a relief zipper.

If you can get him out to play, why bother with the syringe?   As for her, that may work, but would seriously be an awkward position to hold while balancing above the seat.   :o

Maybe this is too much information, but, it's often cold out there, I often have 3 layers (fleece, pants, drysuit), and letting it rip while exercising all the muscles required to kneel and not keel over, can make it more difficult than it may otherwise be.

I hear ya.  I can see how the syringe would be a better option.  Actually a pretty good idea you got going there.  Kind of a hard condom external catheter combo.
Check with your local feed store or horse vet for the big syringe you are looking for.  I picked one up 7 years ago to "cc" the heads on my VW motor when I was building it.

You know, some creative PVC action may get you the same results, as well.
