Well it started off funky but got better and better through the day. I was up all night working and hit the hay at 2AM. I woke up and I saw sunlight... CRAP!!! After calling NogginYakker and his better half to get the reg. done (Thanks guys!) I got in the car and hit the road. When I got there it was pretty amazing to see so many kayaks out there. We had about 12-15 kayak fishermen (some who didn't compete) and just so cool to see people coming out of the woodwork to fish together. Everyone spread out to the horizon chasing the pinkies.

It was pretty apparent from the get go that they still really haven't come in as the 300+ or boats on the water weren't seeing too much action. I paddled w/ Yessnoo down to the shipwreck w/o a bite. We turned around and headed back with the tide. Finally the rod started bouncing in the rod holder, gave a few strong pedals and got to it. Seemed like a decent fish and it was nicer than expected when I got a look at it. Just as I got the net in the water it went for a head shake and she was off. A little bit later a school ran through and all the boats around me lit up. There were a few doubles and got pretty exciting. And then it was over.

I called it a day and paddled in with most of the others at about 1PM. We were all sitting on the beach but Cobrakak76 and YakMonkey stayed out determined to catch something. Cobrakak76 was trolling right in front of us when he hooked up. I'll let him tell the story but he ended up netting the fish. W/o any other fish caught he took the bank and became the champ of the Pinkout! Congrats again Bryan!!

Pretty tough fishing day but awesome hanging out. Great to see everyone and meet some new people! We gotta do stuff like this more often.

Damn.  My bad.  Sorry I missed it.  I didn't even notice there was an EVENTS forum until I did a search on "picnic point pink".  I'll need to start tracking it.

So there I was..

The wind was against me..the tide against me.  The WORD...was against me!  it came down to this one moment in time.  I was like a floating Super Bowl quarterback  seconds before the end of the game...It was me and a monstrous    >:(...ginormous  :-[...ferocious :'(...devilish >:D..confused ???..police oficer :police: (lol)

    3 lb Humpy :P

Ok so I added a little more drama than required.  the event was Great.  I wish there were more fish caught..err.. landed though.  I almost gave up around 1:30ish with everyone else but then I saw it..one lonely figure in the distance puouring his heart out into the sea. with rod in hand he abused the elusive beast with every lonely cast into the deep vast sea...(Damn there I go with the drama again)

ok so Yak Monkey was out there...The Only one out there!   And I though.  Hell no!  I mean Yak monke and me are friends but I'll be a monkeys Uncle before I let him win this thing without a fight!

Just my luck, I was paddling out ..about 50-75 yards from shore when I came into a huge ball of bait on the FF.  After explottng the immediate area,  I found that there was a nice C shaped chunk of land taken out of the 30-40 foot drop off .  The "C" was about 200 yards long and 50 yards wide.
So I drop a 8 oz cannonball 6 feet in front of a 11" white flasher/pink hoochie.  The first trip around I hooked one on for about 3 seconds (Damn barbless hooks )  4-5 trips around the Merry-go-round later I hooked into another one..Wow!  "I think its gonna stay on" I thought....
After about a 30 second battle she came up.. Nothing too special about her except that landing her would put me in the lead<> forcing Yakmonkey to catch a bigger fish in only one hour.

OK so let me tell you about pressure.  I've got the winning (good chance of) fish on..I have yak Monkey scowling at me from down the coast.  And I have 8 or so people on the shore yelling out such nice things like.." that's a $180 fish" and "don't lose it"   and If you land that fish I swear to God I will literally stab you in your brain! " OK so nobody really said "don't lose it" I made that part up

Long story short: I eventually landed the only fish that day.

Lessons learned: If your gonna have 7.5' of leader out ..you gotta use a net longer than 3'
You gotta get your line wet to catch fish.
I have been saying sesame wrong (its  say-sahh-me).
Count money as soon as you get it with the giver.
Bring a non-see-through plastic cup to state parks (24 oz or more).
If your a little person and you have skipped bail..Do not go to Mukilteo State Beach!!

Thanks everyone!   It was nice to Meet/See all of you again!

Oh I forgot to mention. The "WORD" that was against me was "SKUNKED"  (I hate when that happens)

And I REALLY hope someone got a picture of mini-me Dog the Bounty Hunter???

There's gotta be good story behind the last lesson learned... do tell.

Congrats on winning Brian!

Sounds like a fun time!  Hopefully I'll make it next year.

Great job on toughing out the win CK76.  Adversity makes the win even sweeter!

NY and his better half were there so you can expect some high quality work.

Guess you haven't seen the photo of the pinkout champ that Sally took. I'll try to post more photos later this afternoon or this evening.
